Wing Mirrors

During the recent hot weather both the wing mirrors on my 2023 Jazz refused to fold back when the engine was switched off. Now the weather has cooled they have behaved normally again. Should I be concerned. A?

I had one of mine replaced under guarantee when it started "graunching" - although it still worked you could hear the gear grinding inside the car.

Unfortunately Honda seems to be unwilling to address this issue (which is quite common btw!)
It is a recurring gripe on Jazz fora e.g. this one:

Fortunately (for UK drivers) somehow mostly the left (in your case "passenger") mirror seems to be affected.
Unfortunately (for the left-hand driven cars) this is the driver-side mirror and a not unfolding mirror makes driving almost impossible!

As Honda now have prolonged their warranty for new cars to eight years (provided they get regularly maintained by a Honda dealership), I do hope their unwillingness to fix this issue is going to cost them dearly!

Well directed silicone spray via tube supplied with can clears any grit and lubricates. Did this 3 times on last Crosstar over 4 years

In my book we shouldn't have to "hop through burning loops" to cover for a manufacturer's unwillingness to amend a design fault!

I'm quite aware that the "open to the elements" design of the mirror's mechanism is at fault and that applying silicone spray to the gear(?) might alleviate the problem.

However, I do consider this to be Honda's responsibility to either:
* take care of during prescribed maintenance (which they - at least to my knowledge - don't)
* change the design of the mirrors (whatever happend to "Kaizen" on this one?!?)

(they probably don't get Sahara dust in Japan)

It's a common fault. I had the left (passenger side) mirror replaced last year, on my 23reg Crosstar.
