Wash your Jazz!
« on: August 19, 2026, 08:39:28 PM »
With the current drought conditions we are experiencing, I did not wash my Jazz for a couple of months. Last week,  the ACC warning & the CMBS warning symbols both appeared on the display. This was caused by dirt on the cameras/radar/sensors. However, simply washing the car did not resolve this. I had to purchase an OBD11 scanner to clear the fault codes to remove the warnings from the display. Lessen learned. Water shortage or not, keep your Jazz clean!

I regularly clean my Jazz's windows but the rest of the vehicle is rarely cleaned between the washing it gets as part of the annual service.

I’m the same as John R above. We have now had a little rain which has taken the rough off!

Mine has been completely covered in Sahara sand for the last few weeks, but I always kept the windscreen clean if not the paintwork.
The last couple of days though has seen a bit of rain, enough to remove most of the Sahara sand.

I recently learned a good trick for when you've cleaned your car.
Whilst it's still wet, use your garden vac on "blow" to get rid of the drips that can end up leaving marks or streaks. It will also  remove most of the water from within the cut lines which could then help to prevent future rust.

i use this stuff, Turtle Wax&Dry.  You do a quick wash with soap and a sponge and then rinse the car and then dry the car with a microfiber towel while spraying the wax, see:

But it takes some effort. But the result is pretty good

My 'premium sunlight white pearl'  car sheds water and dirt very well, without any special treatments. Apart from washing the windows  I too  find   rainfall (remember rain?)   keeps the bodywork clean enough most of the time. Although its not particularly exposed to bird droppings, insect excretions, tree sap etc which might need extra care and protection.

My previous car in platinum white pearl was much harder to keep clean.  Treatment with nano technology products did improve its water beading  a bit ,which helped, but not as much as I had hoped.  This paint also seemed more vulnerable to paint chips. And not just because I noticed them sooner  during frequent washing and polishing.(  I do wash my car occasionally, personally and by hand , and look out for such damage. )

There must come a point where repeated mild abrasion from frequent washing etc causes more harm to the paint than  good.  IMO   ;D

My IQ test came back negative

I'm mildly curious about this. If cleaning the various sensor windows did not clear the errors, why do you think that dirt was the problem? There are probably other potential causes, such as overheating inside the sensor pods due to strong sunshine. In any case, if cleaning the car didn't fix it, I'm not sure that advising others to "keep washing" when water's in short supply is the responsible thing to do.

I use Autoglym Aqua wax, which is pretty similar.
