First impressions of our NEW Jazz
« on: July 16, 2026, 06:13:20 PM »
Little background, we have decided that our Renault Clio Hybrid 2024 has to go. There is too much "binging and bonging" for our sanity. each time you get in you can disable some of it, but not all of it. I find the tech intrusive and the display dangerous. We also do not like being tied into the dealers for all repairs. It is ok whilst under warranty but thin that nowadays you have to "replace" rather than repair.
So we decided to get an "old school" car, hence the Jazz. It is a 1.4 CVT EX, 80,000 miles, with a reasonable service history.
My impression after a couple of days and about 100 miles.
  • Its very sluggish, maybe I am not used to the CVT and it needs more throttle.
The ride is quite good but a bit noisy on the motorway.
The steering feels vague.
I am about to drain the CVT fluid and change that tomorrow.
Same with the air and cabin filter.
Even though there is a good service record from Honda dealers, I don't know when the spark plugs were last changed.
The oil is clean and the oil filter is new I will leave that later in the year.
Will also flush the brake fluid and change the coolant.

The idea is to replace things over the next few months to make sure the car will last a good few years.

Any suggestions on what you think are important thing to check or replace?

Good choice

CVT does seem sluggish, around town I suggest drive it in S mode

It does make a big difference

Also, I run about 35psi on the front, steering is sharp, and doesn't scuff the corners of the tread

Try it

The spark plugs are likely iridium ones, so they last a long time and plenty of miles. They may never have been changed, if you don't see a record of it in the service history.

At 80k I think that changing them might be reasonable, but brace for the rather steep cost! You might notice slightly better performance with new plugs.

what MPG are you getting? the jazz does need to be revved a bit more than other cars; i agree that 35 psi makes the steering sharper, it takes a while to get used to a new car. also try a dose of redex and E5 fuel.  let us  know how you get on and welcome to the forum
