Digging a bit more into the car sales from this year. I looked at the official data from SMMT that provides the monthly number of cars sold in the UK.

Year to date. Up to June (so first half of the year).

Honda has 10k sold compared to 13k (this time last year) => about 22-24% fewer cars than the already bad last year.

Some interesting data:

Company / cars sold / compared to last year

BYD    / 38k   /  +95%     more than last year (pretty much double)
Chery  / 18k  /  +9999%  (they sold 0 cars in the first half of last year)
Geely  / 6.5k /  +9999%  (they sold 0 cars in the first half of last year)
Jaecoo / 34k /   +305%
Omoda / 18k /   +170%

Sales look a bit grim, but I still have hopes that they could somehow come back. Hopefully, the new warranty boosts their sales.

Hopefully, the new warranty boosts their sales.

If you ask me, extending the warranty from 3 to 8 years—given Honda's current situation in Europe—looks like a desperate attempt to escape a precarious and virtually irreversible predicament.
They probably should have done that ten years ago, before buyers and dealers (our nearest one is now 81 miles away... one way!) gave up on the brand.
For instance, there are only 9 (nine!) dealers left in the Netherlands, whereas here in Poland there are still 16 remaining, plus a number of "service points."
And just look at that new Chinese brand BYD: already 22 dealers in the Netherlands; in Poland, 29 operational dealers by June 1, 2026, with a target of 60 (sixty!) by the end of 2026.

It is a real shame to see things going this way for Honda in Europe. We are genuinely happy with our Jazz and were pleased with the dealer too (until we discovered they had simply vanished...).
Unfortunately, our next car won't be a Honda....

When I looked up Hendy Honda all I got was Portsmouth, Southampton, Eastleigh and Exeter, depending on where I look

What are all those other locations

The map is out of date as Hendy closed its Eastbourne Mazda and Renault/Dacia dealer over 18 months ago. Mazda got picked up by Yeomans to sell alongside their Hyundai dealer in Bexhill. No takers locally so far for Renault/Dacia to the best of my knowledge.

Many of Hendy's Kent and Sussex branches were gained through the acquisition of the Lifestyle dealer group a decade ago. Yeomans also picked up a number of smaller dealers in area, including Collins Honda.

(Borderline!) interestingly, just had another letter from Honda (UK) telling me that I can now get complete aftersales, servicing, etc. from a local outlet of the Horizon Magna Motor Group. That awfully nice AI thingy tells me:

Horizon Magna Motor Group is a large, family-run automotive retail group that has been operating across Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset, and Wiltshire since 1971. Headquartered in Poole, Dorset, the group represents 12 showrooms and multiple major car brands.

My local branch is a Mazda franchise. Will probably give them a whirl for the next service (I took out an Extended Warranty).

I wonder how you can get your Honda digital service record updated if you go somewhere else

One advantage of the old service book
Let's be careful out there !

I have bought & had my Honda Jazz cars serviced by Hendy in the past, but when I had my 2020 Jazz serviced at Hendy in Eastleigh last month I discovered they no longer sell Honda cars.

I ordered my 5th new Jazz the Elegance model from Horizon Honda in Salisbury last week for delivery in September. Today I have had a letter to inform me Horizon Honda are now also ready to sell & service Hondas at Bittern in Southampton.

Having looked at a number of other cars I decided that the Jazz was still the best for me.

I'm on my fourth Honda since 1996, a LSI Civic, 2 CRVs and a Crosstar.
The main dealers where I bought the first three cars, no longer sell Hondas.
The one where I bought the Crosstar a year and a half ago, devotes now more than half the space to "some Chinese 💄 with a funny name."
The Honda car display area is more like a store car park. The waiting area for customers is about ten feet square and the fee help yourself coffee machine has gone.

At least it's only a few miles away.

So, you can still count yourself lucky.
