Brake discs and pads replacement
« on: July 08, 2026, 09:53:25 AM »
21 plate Crosstar looking like it needs new front and rear discs. My question is can the discs and pads be replaced by a local independent garage? Not sure if specific Honda software or hardware is required.  Thanks

I imagine if you are no longer within a warranty scheme that specifies Honda garages only, then I would think most independents would be perfectly capable of pads and disc replacement.

By the way, if you have a warranty and you decide to do the brakes by yourself, that wouldn't void the warranty of the engine or the electric system, correct? I assume It would only void something around the brakes, and that is assuming you did something wrong that caused an issue.

Asking because my other car has no warranty and I've been servicing it myself (hardest thing I did was to replace the exhaust manifold, removing turbo and Cata/DPF in the process). I'd replace brake pads / rotors in the Jazz if in the future (but my general 3 year warranty won't last that long).
