Phone holder recommendations?
« on: July 02, 2026, 05:54:06 PM »
Hi all,

I have been using a phone holder with a windscreen mount (suction cup) and very long arm for many years. I was very happy that I could still use it when I got my Jazz in May, and it's generally worked quite well. However, today my phone started badly overheating! :( I think I need to find an alternative mount that won't keep the phone in direct sunlight.

What phone holders do you use, if any? I would really welcome some recommendations!

My phone case works with magnetic holders, and I have always preferred to have the phone next to the steering wheel, but between me and the door, so as to restrict visibility as little as possible. Have you had any luck with vent mounts clipped onto that round vent next to the steering wheel? Maybe a cup holder mount?

I have also realised today that I need to find something to reduce the reflection from the dash onto the windscreen. If you have any good suggestions, they would also be very welcome! I think I will have to get polarised sunglasses the next time I need to update the prescription...  :D

I usually commute very early and very late in the day, so the dash reflection and phone roasting hadn't been an issue, but I had a later start today and a different route, and it was bad!

Thanks in advance! :)

Scoshe magnetic magic mount is the best. I use the one that sticks with adhesive to the dashboard. You then attach a magnetic strip to the back of your phone. Never falls off, no messing about to slide into the holder.

Thank you!!!

I have been hesitant about adhesive mounts because the dash of the mk2 doesn't have many obvious flat surfaces (that aren't in direct sunlight and/or miles away). I'll have a think!
