Keyless Entry
« on: Today at 05:02:33 PM »
Is it possible to switch off the keyless entry and just use the key fob to lock / unlock the doors.  And would this help to preserve the charge in the 12v battery.

All you can do is the 2 button trick to turn off the fob

As soon as you press either button to lock / unlock it's active again until you 2 button it again
Let's be careful out there !

Just quoting my own recent post :D:

Right, for anyone who didn't know (yet):

You can disable the keyless system—a feature known as 'power-saving mode.' When this mode is active, the battery drains more slowly; the key fob stops transmitting radio waves, effectively disabling the 'keyless entry' function. This prevents thieves from intercepting the key's signal remotely to unlock and start your vehicle.

If you press and hold the 'lock' button and the 'unlock' button at the same time for some 3, 4 seconds, the key switches to power-saving mode.
You will know this has happened when the red led flashes a few times.
Note: the function deactivates as soon as you press any button.

Oh, by the way... ALWAYS store the SPARE KEY SWITCHED OFF!
If nothing goes right, go left!

I am aware of the two button press to disable the fob.  However this only helps to preserve the fob battery, but surely the car is primed and scanning to detect the close proximity of the key fob.  I thought if it could be turned off it might help to reduce the drain on the 12v battery.  I haven't yet had a problem with the battery, just trying to be proactive. thanks for your replies.
