Jerking then Unresponsive Pedals
« on: June 02, 2026, 03:01:55 PM »
Hi, I am hoping someone can help me. My daughter has a 2008 Honda Jazz automatic with 54,000 miles on it and FSH. It is generally reliable and recently had a service and transmission fluid change.

She broke down at the weekend saying it jerked then stalled. She tried to get it going again but says the pedals were unresponsive and it was like in limp mode. She got It pushed in neutral to a safe place and it eventually restarted with no fault lights and she went on her way. Today she said it did it again. It jerked forward, cut out then the pedals were unresponsive. I read somewhere that the throttle body wiring can be problematic in this model. Any ideas would be appreciated before I drive down to have a look.

Diagnostic check needed, but that age of vehicle it could very well be the breaking wire in the throttle body harness, this can be identified by the specific throttle related trouble codes. The harness can be repaired, but it does mean stripping off the insulation and repairing the broken wire.

Thanks. Is this model able to take plug in diagnostic tool?

My daughter is adamant it is the battery and Halfords did a free check and confirmed her battery is shot with 31% life left in it. Would that cause it to just cut out and go into a limp mode though?

Yes ODB Diag port is located to the upper left near the clutch pedal  next to the left of the steering column.
