The sound of a mechanical clock coming from near my instrument panel.

Hello, my Honda Jazz Crosstar sometimes makes a very subtle, barely noticeable sound after I turn off the engine. It sounds like the tiny ticking of a second hand on an analog clock. What could be causing this, and should I be worried?

I think I have heard the same sound.  It is just the sound engine cooling after it has been switched off.

It suspect its one of those noises "unique to the e -HEV " that Honda warn  you about in the drivers handbook .  Here is a snip from the English language version .

Finally, someone who agrees with me! I'd asked about this sound in many different ways, and no one had heard it. I was starting to think it was unique to my car.

Is it what we bikers call 'pinging'..

After a long ride and stopping, the engine would gradually cool down while emmiting an almost regular pinging sound as the aluminium contracted as it cooled.
