Side Mirror Repeater Replacement
« on: April 26, 2026, 04:21:43 PM »
My Jazz failed its MOT last week because the offside mirror repeater is not working. I have sourced the part and will try to fit it myself. Has anyone had to do this on theirs and so can offer any advice? There isn't much on You Tube and nothing directly relevant to a UK version GK3.

In case anyone else has the issue it turns out that changing repeater unit is not difficult. Getting the mirror power adjust to work is more difficult. I think reassembly is not simply the reverse of disassembly and the mirror needs to be refitted and the gears aligned before the shell is clipped back on. Anyway, in the meantime it will now pass its MOT I assume and the mirror not power adjusting is on the driver side so it isn't a real problem.

The repeater unit was full of water because someone at some stage had clipped it and done just enough damage to let water in. Oh well.

Update in case it is useful to anyone. To reassemble (unkess you are very lucky) you need to take the motor assembly out first. Unplug the power(2) and then release the 4 clips holding the shell together. The motors drive a centre threaded cog via a worm drive. Under the cogs you will probably find that the spring which allows the thread to grip has come off. Replace them both and then introduce the mirror carefully pointing fully up and fully pointed to the body. Push firmly into place. You might find it is still not running freely and it might need a bit of manual assistance/lubrication to fully loosen up and find its mojo.

Contrary to what Google AI says it is not necessary to repair this to pass the MOT. Without the springs the mirror can still be adjusted by hand and is stable so it will pass.
