Maybe it's more signal strengh? I use wired Android (with a Samsung) and never had a problem on both Hondas.
below you see the map of the area I live. My home is in a white area. White is no signal. This map is for 5G. They now claim 4G is everywhere but that is not true. White is basically for all mobile in my area.
In my experience if you start the car in an area where there is no signal then Android Auto will not start (obviously). But when you then enter an area where there is a signal it will not automatically start functioning. Sometimes you need to restart the entire car. I plug the phone in and out of the USB. Sometimes it works but not always. That is the frustrating thing with that system. I would think that once you enter an area where the mobile signal is sufficient it would start working. It does sometimes but not always. Not sure why this is the case.
