Andoid Auto / Google Maps turn-by-turn
« on: April 15, 2026, 12:22:18 PM »
Hi
I normally use Android Auto/Google Maps for navigation as I find the built-in 'Here' display too confusingly cluttered for comfort (and I like traffic reports).
Perhaps I'm having a senior moment but I recall Android Auto/Google Maps showing turn-by-turn directional graphics on the drivers display. However I can't seem to get this to happen. Turn-by-turn directional graphics do display when using the built in 'Here' system, but not for Android/Google.
I've tried (what I think) is tweaking every setting and option I can find but all to no avail, so I'm wondering if I'm imagining things and Google/Android never did send turn-by-turn graphics to the drivers display.
Or perhaps a system update broke things?
Has any one else got android/Google to display turn-by-turn graphics?

Tim

I can confirm I used to get navigation instructions in the driver display

Google Maps worked but Waze had bugs
Let's be careful out there !

Thanks for that... it at least confirms I'm not going mad and remembering imaginary things! I guess a recent update (either Honda or Google) has put the kybosh on it, unless some enterprising owner knows different?

I assume you have navigation set in the screen and the compass showing when not using navigation since the built in system shows turn by turn. If so then Android should too if the phone is connected by usb cable. There is a hack for wireless Android but it can be flaky.

which navigation do you have built in? Garmin, right? My Honda Jazz is from 2026 and I have Garmin built in. I find it to be really good. I used to have Tomtom via Android Auto but now using Garmin. Indeed the built in is fully integrated in the car. So it also shows in the drivers display, like turns and max speed etc. Sometimes I even get the impression it reads signs because sometimes the speed limit is changed due to work going on and it seems to pick that up. But I could be wrong.

A few weeks ago I was still using Tomtom and this did not show up in the drivers display. It showed only in the infotainment system.

Yep, navigation is set on the driver's display and everything works as it should and displays correctly when using the built-in 'Here' system (the 'Here' system replaced Garmin on 2024 advance models).
Android phone is connected by USB cable and communicates faultlessly with the car, it just will not display turn-by-turn graphics on the driver's display.
Frustrating!
