As I was only doing between 5 and 10 miles a month so it seemed silly keeping it

But, having been on Honda forums for nearly 20 years with 3 Civics and the Jazz I like to help if I can

The screen shot that would demonstrate is on a single carriageway with both you doing 30mph then 50mph. Those speeds will typically show how good it is at capturing plates

After much experimenting, on my A119V3 I had :

2560x1440
EV 0
High bitrate
WDR off

thank you. i will also try high bitrate. See if it can handle that, meaning saving it all on the micro SD.

Currently I am running
4K @ 30 fps (front) + 2K @ 30 fps (rear)
Normal Bitrate
HDR on
EV (didn't check but if available it is using default 0).

here some footage for these settings: https://www.youtube.com/@4investing4investing69

I put the camera on "high bitrate" now. Will post some videos when I have some footage. 30 fps is the max setting for the 4K (3840Χ2160p) resolution. At lower resolutions I think it is possible to chose 60 fps (not sure, will have to check).

HDR is a compromise

Here is Viofo own screenshots. Note the V on the column. It's blurry. But other parts of the screenshot are clearer. Make up your own mind :

https://www.viofo.com/blogs/viofo-car-dash-camera-guide-faq-and-news/true-hdr-is-implemented-in-a119-v3

The distant glare can be removed by the optional CPL filter which is why I turned WDR/HDR off, for me it was sharper without
Let's be careful out there !

thanks. Yes I see what you mean.

I tried maximum bitrate today. I do not see much difference. I think putting fps to 60 would help but this is not possible with this camera, also not with a lower resolution. I think I will just go with the default settings. HDR on is also default.   I would think a lower resolution in combination with a higher frame rate (fps) would give a more stable result, I'm not sure. I think I will just use the defaults. The videos I posted use the default setup

Don't go with 60fps, it's a con, as what they do, or used to do, is insert a pseudo dummy frame

Stick with 30fps which is the sensor standard
Let's be careful out there !

I would suggest you avoid camera wiring crossing on the interior side of the airbag.

I mounted my cable between the car's frame and the airbag. Is this what you mean should be avoided? Why? It is not in the way of the airbag.

Just came back to this thread because I seen this video:

to my knowledge this will be similar to a cigarette lighter power. So no parking mode because the power from behind the rear mirror does not have constant power (to my knowledge). Also you would still need to run the rear camera cable.

Also I ordered this little mounting clip for the rear camera but I have not yet received it. Will let you know if it fits. Although since I ordered he seems to have taken down all his mounting clips from Etsy.

I hardwired my Viofo dash cam and rear camera with the help of other more experienced Jazz owners on this very useful forum. Used proper power connection plug and avoided the drivers side A pillar airbag as per advice. Rear camera mounted on high level warning light and cable from it into trim around rear door frame I can not see when driving so no need to route cable from door frame to door through existing flexible connector (not an easy job).
Please find a few photos of the installation.

I recently installed a Kawa D11 dashcam with a hardwire kit and connected it via the Options Connector (I bought the male pin on AliExpress for €4). It includes both front and rear cameras. On the A-pillar, two cables go under the airbag, and then another cable runs under the floor to the rear window, where the last 15 cm of cable is exposed naturally to connect to the rear camera.

P.S. The main problem was that this was a new car, and I accidentally damaged the ceiling a bit while mounting the cables. It’s much better to do the whole operation with plastic tools rather than with your hands.

But in the Uk at least  insurers  usually assume  that the driver who runs into the back of another is 100% at fault.

yes same here. I just think it is nice to have. I will not report someone bothering me as long as they do not cause an accident. If they do then I can use it as evidence if necessary. It is easy to install and on the Viofo the footage is in the same directory as the front cam footage. The files are next to each other where F is front and R is rear. Nice to have in my opinion.

Just found an address in the UK selling these mounting brackets, see:
https://www.dashcams.co.uk/product-page/rear-window-dash-cam-mount-bracket

as far as I understand he slides it over the trim only. I just wrote him an email with that question.

I like this one as wel: https://www.etsy.com/be/listing/4408928997/2025-toyota-4runner-6e-generatie

This once slides over the metal ridge of the car frame (see the video in that link). That seems more secure. However the postal costs (from the USA to Belgium) are about twice the costs of the item itself which I find a bit over the top. Also he could not guarantee it would fit on my car.

I finally received the little mount I ordered from ETSY (on april 16-th  :o ). I thought since it was not expensive I would order it (even though it is made for a Toyota). Problem was that even though the item itself was only 12.41€ I had to pay 41.27€ (item + transportation costs + tax). Then like 2 weeks ago I got another bill: 28.60€ import costs to import it in the EU. If I would not pay they would send it back and I would have paid 41.27€ for nothing. So I paid ... total costs 69.87€ for a lil piece of plastic. Certainly the last time I buy at that site Etsy.

It fits but not great but it would put the camara a little closer to the window. If I decide to mount the rear camera on there I will make a pic but the item is no longer available since for some reason he stopped selling them right after I ordered. See picture of the mount below.

Wow! you could print that for literally pennies. Just need the 3d file of the measurements, and that is why people should stick their designs on the net! An example:

I bought a centre armrest for the E from a guy in Europe. He bought in a leather effect top which matched the leather seats, machined a couple of metal uprights at selectable heights and 3d printed some plastic inserts which fitted the adjustable partition cutouts in the centre console exactly. After a couple of months he came up with a better design for the plastic inserts, instead of posting plastic clips around the world he sent customers the print file for free. I gave it to a friend with a printer and he was adamant he wanted no payment since the cost was so negligable.

Doesn't look as nice as the Honda armrest, but is perfectly functional and only cost 25% of the OEM part, which would also have needed a hefty dealer labour on top.

yes that lil piece of plastic that I bought is clearly a 3D printed item. No problem with that and I think 12.41€ is a fair price it is just these criminal gubmint a-holes that make all the money. Truly criminal
