As I was only doing between 5 and 10 miles a month so it seemed silly keeping it

But, having been on Honda forums for nearly 20 years with 3 Civics and the Jazz I like to help if I can

The screen shot that would demonstrate is on a single carriageway with both you doing 30mph then 50mph. Those speeds will typically show how good it is at capturing plates

After much experimenting, on my A119V3 I had :

2560x1440
EV 0
High bitrate
WDR off

thank you. i will also try high bitrate. See if it can handle that, meaning saving it all on the micro SD.

Currently I am running
4K @ 30 fps (front) + 2K @ 30 fps (rear)
Normal Bitrate
HDR on
EV (didn't check but if available it is using default 0).

here some footage for these settings: https://www.youtube.com/@4investing4investing69

I put the camera on "high bitrate" now. Will post some videos when I have some footage. 30 fps is the max setting for the 4K (3840×2160p) resolution. At lower resolutions I think it is possible to chose 60 fps (not sure, will have to check).

HDR is a compromise

Here is Viofo own screenshots. Note the V on the column. It's blurry. But other parts of the screenshot are clearer. Make up your own mind :

The distant glare can be removed by the optional CPL filter which is why I turned WDR/HDR off, for me it was sharper without
Let's be careful out there !

thanks. Yes I see what you mean.

I tried maximum bitrate today. I do not see much difference. I think putting fps to 60 would help but this is not possible with this camera, also not with a lower resolution. I think I will just go with the default settings. HDR on is also default.   I would think a lower resolution in combination with a higher frame rate (fps) would give a more stable result, I'm not sure. I think I will just use the defaults. The videos I posted use the default setup

Don't go with 60fps, it's a con, as what they do, or used to do, is insert a pseudo dummy frame

Stick with 30fps which is the sensor standard
Let's be careful out there !
