Is this a good deal?
« on: Today at 08:09:24 AM »
I want to get a Jazz Crosstar, at first I was planning to buy a used one but have been shocked by their  prices- about £ 18,000 for a four year old example from a main dealer with around 15-20k miles in a decent colour.

I was at a Honda dealership yesterday and asked if there were any deals on new ones.
The salesman offered a Jazz Crosstar Advance OTR in Fjord Mist for £27,030 ( with various deductions for finance contribution, retailer contribution etc totalling £4,000 ). ( If I bought new I could also take advantage of 5 years servicing for £799 ).  Deal must be agreed by end of the month, delivery before April 2026.

Does this seem a good deal? I’m aware the Mk4 will soon be phased out and I’m in no hurry quite happy with my my Corolla Estate however I do miss the all round ability of the Jazz.

TIA

I negotiated a free service plan on top of the already generous discount on my Crosstar, here are some prices for comparison

I've had 2 phone calls recently from Honda dealers trying to sell me a car

Even though I've stopped driving and sold my Jazz due to a local shopping precinct and a regular bus route plus I was only doing about 5 to 10 miles a month one of them just wouldn't give up

I said to him "what's the point of having a car that's just on regular charge and having to go out every other month to charge the HV battery, what a waste of fuel

What I have local to me - 5 minute walk :

Let's be careful out there !

A used Jazz/crosstar holds its value well. 66% of its new  value after 4 years is impressive when you consider  some cars used to retain only  40% after 3 years. Not so welcome when buying used.  :(

I cant comment on a particular offer.   I suggest you look in Autotrader etc to see what is being offered.  Some Honda dealerships  sell discounted cars in this way . Others dont.    It doesnt mean you have to buy from that particular dealership, which may not be local or convenient.

Armed with the knowledge of what discount could be possible, you can ask your prefered dealership if they  can price match it or nearly so. They might accept a deal that only gives them a  small profit and a potential long term loyal customer, rather than lose a sale to a dealership who markets aggressively.    When i bought my brand new 2021 car they nearly  price matched   one on offer in Autotrader  ,  and when I bought  my 2024 car from the same dealership   they claimed  they were giving an exceptionally good deal to a loyal customer  .  It may even have been true  :D.

When I bought my Sport I traded in my 3-year old Crosstar for £18K (this was 2 years ago), and I'd bought it nearly new (a demonstrator) for £21K so I was well pleased, they do seem to be the most popular models with dealerships

If you feel happy with the offer, that’s all that matters. It’s no use losing sleep over whether or not someone else might do a bit better. I would personally take up the 5 year servicing package for peace of mind.
