Spacesaver for 2025 Advance Sport
« on: November 21, 2025, 05:18:13 PM »
I am looking for advice on obtaining a spacesaver for my 2025 Advance Sport. There is a lot of information out there in the forum, but I wonder if owners who have previously been through the process can summarise their experience and particularly offer recommendations on specification and purchase options?

From my initial internet search, the Road Hero kit, using an aluminium wheel, look interesting.

Also are the jacking points identified on the car and what type of jack is best?

The Road Hero RH004 wheel does look compact, the wheel being 4" wide and tyre 125 mm wide. But I wonder, will it require different lug nuts than our Jazz already uses. That would be a drawback, as you would need to carry separate nuts just for the spare wheel. The nuts of Jazz have spherical type lug seat with 12mm radius (or 24mm diameter), while most aftermarket wheels use nuts that have conical lug seat type.

Some wheels do exist that can use the original Honda spherical seat lug nuts, see for example my older post. But those are around 6" wide, and use 185 mm wide tyre, so they take up more space in the boot and may be heavier as well. One benefit is that with original size wheel you are not restricted to the 50 mph speed limit that the space saver wheel seems to have.

I got mine from the Wheelshop, fast delivery, you can order with ebay if you prefer  https://www.thewheelshop.co.uk/vehicle-year-2008-present-day/?product_cat=honda-jazz-2008-present-day&filter_vehicle-year=2008-present-day&searched=true

As they say, "each to  their own."
Like many, I too didn't trust a micky mouse air pump and a bottle of goo. So when I bought my Crosstar I bought a space saver wheel, jack and bag. They came with a cruciform wheel brace, but I use a socket and tommy bar.

I don't think you lose much space with a spare. It fits neatly in the middle of the boot and the tools and jack fit  in the locker to the right-hand side of the boot, where the pump and goo went.

I keep a "proper" electric air pump in the box under the boot tray.

There's still room for two bags of shopping either side of the wheel and room for cases if necessary.

"It's as if they all were originally designed to go there." The spare is  not much thinner than a full width one.

Total cost? around £140 on eBay.

As I'm "prepared" I doubt if I will ever have a puncture where the AA won't be able to find me in a reasonable time.

Equally ,if you prefer a full sized spare  its not much thicker than a spacesaver. I can still fit a full sized medium /large suitcase on top of the spare with the boot cover in place.   But if the spare is a OE wheel with fancy plastic trim, diamond cutting  etc  its best to protect it from scuffing on top and underneath  with a bit of padding and hardboard .I incorporate this inside the  wheel bag.
My IQ test came back negative

Same a last two contributors, and I carry compact trolley jack in well below boot floor.

Ever driven a car with emergency spare - skinny wheel - so unsafe feeling even at recommended low speed.

Full size spare s can be picked up online.

Should you happen to live in region where winter wheels are a reasonable commodity you could just take one of the unused season's wheels with you as a spare.
Of course it's far from ideal, but we are talking about an emergency, right?
