Tyre valves
« on: October 09, 2025, 01:35:07 PM »
I now have 2 tyres where air will come out of the valve but its nearly impossible to put air back with either the Honda electic pump or with a foot pump
I think to play safe I will have to get the valves changed on all the wheels
Strange

check that the inner part of the valve is fully screwed in.  You can get a tool for this cheaply in Halfords.

Its the same on all 4 tyres.

They can be pumped up using a garage air line but not a foot pump or the Honda pump

Check the 'nozzle' of your pump(s). There's a bit that pushes the valve centre down to let air in; I've had 2 pumps fail where this part had broken off.

I couldnt see a problem with my foot pump so I went out and tried to use it again and it worked OK !!!!
I can only assume that the valves were clogged up and it needed a airline to free them up

I used to have CRV. The tyres "could go for ever," not needing more air in them. On an occasion I decided to put a bit more air in, using my 15 year-old pump that I rarely used, I could plug into a socket in the boot. But I found it wasn't strong enough to put air in, in fact, the pressure from the air inside the tyre overcame the pressure of the pump and I started to lose air. So I had to take it to a service station and use the air line there. I then bought a better pump, which works fine.

I have now bought a better electric pump which takes only seconds to increase the pressure from 29 to 33 .
It shows how useless the Honda pump is
