2025 Crosstar Blind Spot Monitoring and SatNav
« on: September 12, 2025, 04:50:09 PM »
The PCP deal on my Crosstar is coming to an end so am trying to decide whether to keep it, replace with something different (Sportage, Niro or Karoq all in the running) or replace with another Crosstar. If the latter I have two questions which hopefully someone who has a 2025 model can answer.

1 - Blind Spot Monitoring - although the brochure blurb states it has this, the specifications do not list it.  Umm...

2 - Sat Nav.  A major weakness of the Gamin SatNav in my 2022 Model does not have traffic info.  Can someone tell definitively whether the 2025 model really does have traffic monitoring (you know like in just about every non-Honda vehicle!)

Certainly the current Jazz HERE satnav gives traffic information via a smartphone WiFi hotspot. I expect the Crosstar is the same.

So if no smartphone then no traffic?

That’s my understanding. The traffic information comes via the phone connection, then through its WiFi hotspot to the car.

I had thought that you didn't need the phone hot spot and mobile data but Downsizer is quite right; you do need it.  Today I managed to get my Samsung to switch on the hotspot on powering up the car and switch it off again when powering off.  It can be a pain because you can lose the WiFi connection to your domestic router when the hotspot is turned on.

I don't yet have any sense of the amount of data needed per mile travelled - perhaps Downsizer has?

Minimal data requirement in my experience. I have only 5GB per month on my pay as you go deal (£6 per month - Smarty). I have driven over 1000 miles in the last two weeks with the traffic data on and still have 4.2GB left.

Good to know, and almost snap.  I have 5GB Lebara for £4.90 / month through Money Saving Expert.

Which is why I picked the standard Jazz Advance over the Crosstar

I got used to the blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alerts in my previous Mk4 Prius and wanted to keep those

I can’t work out why people choose the Crosstar over the standard Jazz; is it the styling?

In my case Bev it was mainly the styling and a (very) slight increase in ground clearance why I changed from an Advance to a Crosstar, I personally don't miss the BSM and rear cross alert, I would certainly not rule out having another Advance, not for the extra safety stuff but I think my Advance was more comfortable    maybe due to the extra suspension height on the Cross, I think many potential buyers could be taken in by the 'SUV' looks of the Cross for the extra ride height but there is very little difference

I've used the roof rails on Crosstar a couple times to transport a bed. Without the roof rails I would have had to put the bed on a trailer and tow it behind the car. Also parking in a city is more challenging when towing a trailer.

Otherwise the Advance is better: it has lower fuel consumption, faster acceleration and has blind spot monitoring.

Go for either of the Kia's. MY Niro is the best out of the 79 cars I have owned. BIG PLUS is SEVEN year warranty. Both Honda and ALL VAG reliability is going down the pan. I am Moderator on Karoq forum and you would not believe the number of fault complaints. If a Manufacturer has so little confidence in their products that they persist in giving only 3 years when so many are offering up to 10. None of the 3 year companies will ever get my custom again!
