Even though I have Apple CarPlay connected wirelessly I always use the inbuilt Jazz navigation and find it spot on

I probably should try Google maps or Apple maps etc to see how I get on with them at some point

I’m happy to use the inbuilt sat nav for the moment though

My phone goes in the glove box as soon as I get in the car.
For music I use a USB, and as far as navigation goes I have had no issues with the Garmin sat nav getting me anywhere I needed to go.

I have a oneplus 5 phone and Waze kept crashing when paired with the headunit.

I ended up deleting the car from the phone and started again and it's been fine since.

I also turned off "auto Connect " so when I plug the phone in I have to select andriod auto on the head unit and that seems to work much better.  I think the phone is trying to load Andriod auto before the head unit has finished loading in processes / boot up and is overloading the system.    ( Just my thought's, not proven )

Since I've made these changes it's been fine.
Went on a 4 hr jouney yesterday and it worked faultlessly. ( 2 Hrs each way )

Hope this helps.

So now everything works, navigation will no longer freeze. :) Just change the phone's main language to English.
Thanks for Steve_M and NetworkMan. ;)
However, as I found out, this bug has been around for a long time and it is very surprising that it has not been resolved yet. :( I didn't know about this error until now.

Now I changed English to UK and drove a slightly longer route. All three navigations work OK, only Organic Maps' voice navigation stutters (it skips the first word). But that doesn't bother me at all, because I only use Mapy.com.

And the second thing is, I don't mind that the phone is now in English - because I pulled my old spare phone out of the drawer just for navigation.
And that's the advantage of Mapy.com - that I can have several devices for one profile, where I will always have the same routes, points, etc.

And there is one more advantage to Mapy.com: not only can the voice navigation be in a language other than English, but the application language can also be set to a language other than English.
With the aforementioned HERE WeGo and Organic Maps, the application language cannot be changed; it is automatically taken from the phone's default language.

Regarding the summer update: there’s a significant improvement in Android Auto connectivity. The connection is now fast and trouble‑free, whether wired or wireless – this little gadget works great, tested. There is no longer a need for English as the main language on the phone.

But a different, new problem has appeared: the navigation only navigates for a few seconds, then it stops giving directions and only the current position on the map remains.

I tried two different phones and it’s the same. So I asked Copilot, and it gave me this answer:

----------------------------
What you’re describing is a typical issue with the combination of Android Auto + the Honda Jazz e:HEV FL (facelift 2024–2025) software. The navigation starts, but after a few seconds it stops giving instructions – only the map with the current position remains.

Where the problem is

Android Auto is running, but the Honda head unit (infotainment) has a communication bug with navigation apps.

Location services work correctly (GPS data is being transferred), but navigation instructions are being blocked.

Jazz FL users report that it happens with Google Maps, Waze, and Sygic, so it’s not an issue with a specific app.

Honda’s USB update (2025) hasn’t fixed the issue yet – it’s a known bug in the Android Auto integration with the new Jazz FL infotainment.

What is known from real‑world use

On forums (ClubJazz, HondaSpirit, Google Android Auto Community), users report that navigation stops navigating after 2–20 seconds, leaving only the map.
-----------------------------

I suspect the reason is that while Android Auto is updated almost every month, Honda releases updates only once a year and can’t keep up with the changes in AA.

I also tried an iPhone via CarPlay, and navigation works fine there.

I find if you use the in built sat nav for a while it clears the problem with Android Auto.

So I dug a little deeper and the problem is even deeper (or maybe different than Copilot previously told me).
If someone has disabled internal Navigation (as I also found out from this post here), then the same problem occurs as I describe above, but it is apparently irreparable.

Honda:
• uses an older infotainment architecture,
• has tied navigation to the map framework,
• has tied the map framework to Android Auto,
• and when the internal navigation is disabled in a Honda, part of the framework is also turned off.

CarPlay is probably the only solution because:
• CarPlay is fine because it is completely isolated and independent of the car system.
• Android Auto has a problem because it is integrated into the car system.

So the solution to all the problems is to buy an iPhone. The latest navigations requires iOS 17 and higher. So a cheap second-hand iPhone 11 should be enough (or possibly a some CarPlay AI Box).

Because there will be problems with Android Auto anyway.

I ran both my old Samsung Galaxy S10 and subsequently a S23+ to the car via Android Auto and once I'd switched from wireless to wired I had zero issues
Let's be careful out there !

Kremmen: I also had no problems once, but that was only for a moment, the problem is that Android Auto has updates every month and Honda only once a year. And when Honda fixes one thing with an update (e.g. the phone no longer needs to be set to English), something else arises. And now Android Auto itself works quite well, the only problem is navigation (but it is a fundamental problem).

And it's not just about Honda, the internet is full of problems with Android Auto.

I also read somewhere that some car brands want to drop Android Auto completely.

My main use was displaying Google Maps, in satellite view, on the headunit, and that worked perfectly

I also streamed music from the 23+ via AIMP to the headunit, which I think also used AA, and that worked perfectly as well

As you say, I've seen posts where not using English has been a factor
Let's be careful out there !

Shame there's not room to fix a tablet, that would solve a few problems.

For what its worth, on my previous 2021, i used to expereince this problem periodically, but so far has not occured at all on my 2025 Crosstar.

Something i discovered accidentally on the old car was, when i wanted to run Android Auto and say Google Maps,  that if the inbuilt Sat Nav was running in the background, then there was no problem, because the car used the GPS of the inbuilt system.

But if the whole system had rebooted in the background (say) as it seemed to do sometimes, then unless i activated the inbuilt Nav first before plugging in and using G Maps via AA, then i would find the symptoms you originally described.
