Its a long time since we all bought anything with a tag that said Made in Great Britain.
We recently bought a new TV, and that said Built in Antennae.... I didn't even know there was a place called Antennae!!!

I have my own ethics and views on human rights but this is not the forum on which to discuss them.  I apologize for bringing the subject up.

Of course you're right, Colin, but...
It's really hard to avoid "Made in China/PRC."
Just a few examples. I also go through my house and look at my (German) Braun shaver, my (Japanese) Panasonic beard trimmer, our (British) Russell Hobbs coffee machine, and our Dutch Philips television. Everything says "Made in China."
I have no idea how to avoid this... you?

But indeed, that's not a discussion for this forum.

A lot of stuff is made in China and they are good at following others designs

What I'm wary of is designed and made in China.
Let's be careful out there !

The MG warranty has lots of “ small print terms “ written and lots of items limited to 36k miles .Not many items are covered for 7 years .

If that's really true, MG UK has very different warranty terms than MG Poland.
Everything is covered by the 7-year warranty here, with two exceptions:

1. The warranty covers all wear parts (excluding tires) that fail due to a manufacturing or material defect during the first 24 months of the warranty period or before the first scheduled paid maintenance service, whichever occurs first.

2. Infotainment and driver assistance systems are covered 36 months or 72,000 kilometers (whichever comes first).

Using Google Translate, you can translate and compare Polish warranty terms with those in the UK (or any other country):

Yes pages 3 and 4 on MG website show items on 36 month warranty

On the MG UK website, but not on the:

Polish website - https://www.mgmotor.pl/uploads/app/media/2024/01/informacja-gwarancyjna-dla-klientow-2023-65ae627ae49b5.pdf
German website - https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/files/MG_Motor_Deutschland_Garantiebedingungen_DE-04-25.pdf
Dutch website - https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/files/MG-Warranty-Statement_NL_2022-11-14-091453_dsvu.pdf
French website - https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/files/Politique-Garantie-MG-Motor-FR-Juin-2025.pdf
Spanish website - https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/files/MG-Warranty-Statement_ES_2022_2024-02-05-125427_lelh_2024-05-07-084341_vsyo.pdf
Norwegian website - https://cdn.mgmotor.eu/files/MG-Warranty-Statement_NO_23-05-2025.pdf

and so on and so on... no 'pages 3 and 4' showing items on 36 month warranty...

The difference is that the importer for all these (and more European) countries is SAIC Motor Europe B.V., De Entree 159, 1101 HE Amsterdam, Netherlands ("MG").
Apparently, they don't work for the UK. The MG UK Warranty Statement shows the following address: MG Motor UK Limited, Low Hill Lane, Longbridge, Birmingham, B31 2BQ.

Apparently MG UK has a different warranty than MG provides in the rest of Europe...

Difficult to escape the thought that this looks like yet another benefit of Br*x*t.

(I know Norway isn't in the EU, but it is in the EEA which requires alignment of standards)

No doubt the UK market also attracts a premium price over the other EU countries?

I just read an article about the upcoming Renault Clio.

It looks interesting - longer wheelbase and length than the Jazz, larger trunk, in the hybrid atmospheric 1.8 engine, 117 kW, combined consumption 3.9 l/100 km, range on a full tank up to 1000 km.

I think it's a better competitor for the Jazz than the MG 3 Hybrid+.
Things should serve me, not me them

We don't yet have any price indication for that new (rather ugly IMHO) Clio.
Since the current Clio Hybrid's WLTP fuel consumption (4.3 l/100km) is nowhere near being achieved in practice (according to Spritmonitor, it's approximately 5.1 l/100km), that 3.9 l/100 km figure for the new one might also be a bit (too) optimistic.
The maximum boot space of the new Clio, at 391 liters, is identical to that of the outgoing Clio. So, like the current Clio, the hybrid has a boot capacity of (only) 254 liters. That's considerably smaller than the Jazz (304 liters) and the MG3 Hybrid (293 liters).
So... your initial assumption seems a bit premature.

The Clio E-Tech hybrid has a boot capacity of 301 litres, which is reduced from the petrol version's 391 litres due to the hybrid system's battery. This hybrid boot space is still competitive with rivals, larger than the Toyota Yaris Hybrid's 286 litres, but the hybrid system's battery is located under the boot floor, contributing to the smaller space.

Personally I wouldn’t buy an MG or a Renault

I have stuck with Japanese cars for years now with great success and I’m not prepared to change that anytime soon

The jazz , Just as my last two Nissan NOTE cars were underated by folk -surprised by how bid inside they were . Instead of magic seats the NOTE had sliding rear seats but still virtually same size as my jazz . People who drive larger SuV type of things are impressed with its inside space when they travel in the jazz . Surprised by the quick turn of speed …designed and built in japan is enough for me !
No doubt time will prove the durability of cars made in china , one way or the other . In many cases in life you do “ get what you pay for “ So agree with you

I don't know where you got your information from, Noel, but automobiledimension.com says this: "The hybrid model is called Clio E-TECH Hybrid and has a boot space of 254* liters."

https://www.automobiledimension.com/model/renault/clio

Dutch AutoWeek Carbase agrees: 254 liters.
