I've a 23R Crosstar.
I went shopping yesterday, about two minutes after I got into my car, a message came up on the screen advising me that there was an update available for the SatNav.
When I parked up at Sainsbury's I clicked on the link and it gave me a web address. So I carefully wrote it down. When I got home I tried it on my laptop and it said it didn't exist.
So I phoned the main agent, in the end I spoke to three different people and none of them had a clue what to do. I thought they'd have someone who could talk me through it,
I've had to make an appointment to take the car in to have it sorted. This will not be for two weeks. It's not urgent as I rarely use the SatNav. As the car is only three years old it won't cost me anything.
I can't get my car close enough to the hub in our lounge to upload updates. The USB system doesn't work. When last year the car said there's updates available, the website said the car's up to date.
The main agent installed any updates last, when I had the car serviced in March. It got rid of the "updates available" message.
I read something on the internet the other day, about a lot of modern cars being written off by insurers after an accident, that could have been reasonably quickly repaired, as garages haven't got enough people who are trained to re-set a lot of the technical gismos, that get damaged.
Those that do, haven't enough of them, they often have a backlog of vehicles needing this sort of expertise, so the cost of hire cars for several weeks, becomes expensive for the insurance company.
All this will increase insurance premiums for cars.
