I always had my phone connected by Bluetooth only, what advantage does a WiFi connection give you ?
Let's be careful out there !

Jazzfreak - Go to general settings/connections/wifi and change mode from smartphone to network. Then look for the network you want to link to. It helps to be patient!

Patience? Lost that a long time ago ;D

Thanks for reading my diatribe anyway. I will consider updating when I’ve cooled down and then to bring the car into the living room for a good connection. Partner will be thrilled ;D

Jazz Mk 4 Hybrid 2024: I have software updates available and have installed a (home) Wifi connection which doesn't seem to connect (reception issue maybe ?), and I do not have a suitable mobile phone.
So I purchased a 128GB USB memory stick to try the alternative route ('How to Update with a USB Device', manual p.269), but see "Error The connected device does not contain any files that can be played on this system ..", screen shots attached.
The USB memory stick can be read on a Win 10 PC, and I am aware of the guidance, "A FAT32-formatted USB device between 8GB and 32GB in size with at least 8GB of free space is recommended."
Is 128GB an issue ?
Or is it best to let the Honda dealer sort out the software updates at my next service ?

When you say you have established a home WiFi connection which doesn’t seem to connect, have you been into general settings/connections/network and scrolled through the available networks ( it may take a minute or so)? If you can select your home WiFi it should then ask for the password.

Many thanks - yes (Plusnet system), and the password seems to have been accepted.

Is your home WiFi 2.4Ghz or 5.0Ghz. The car will only detect 2.4Ghz WiFi.

Many thanks - interesting point.  The hub is dual 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz.  The TV and the TV recorder seem to be using 2.4 GHz.

I've mentioned this before. My car  a 23reg crosstar can't find my Internet hub as it's in the corner of our lounge at the back of the house and I can't get the car far enough up our drive for it to find it. The software says there are updates. I insert a USB stick in the car and it downloads the link. I put this in my laptop, click on the link, it connects and it then tells me that there are no new updates and my car is up to date. This has happened several times over the past four months.
I've given up with it as the car runs fine.

When it accepts the password and you try to connect, does it say”trying to connect” or connected”, and do you get the fan symbol in the status bar along the top of the screen?

Windows will format a 128 stick as exFat as default, and the manual says it needs a Fat32 stick to read. You need a special program to format your 128 stick as Fat32 in Windows, Fat32 format (google it) is a free program that can do it. Otherwise a 32G stick is the largest size that Windows will allow to format as Fat32.

Thanks - sorry, I can't recall. The Wifi data as entered seems to offer a (potentially) viable option.

Many thanks - this sounds like a remedy, I'll pursue the 32GB option.

Update - I've tried a 32 GB memory stick, but encounter the previous error message, details attached.
I'm going to leave this issue until the next service in a couple of months' time.

I had a similar message once and after reading the online Honda instructions closer I reformatted the USB stick using the 'default allocation units' option and it worked

Let's be careful out there !
