Lord V and others.
I live in a house brick built in 1949/1950. The internal walls are blue 'breeze block with plaster. The wi-fi from my single router is very patchy (Excellent > Poor) as I move round the house.  :'(
When I needed an iternet connection in my MK 3, managed to extend the telephone cable enough to locate the router on front door step!
The other option would have been to set Android 9 mobile phone up as a hot spot and get the internet connection from a local tower.

In your case I would suggest PowerLine adapters

They push data through your electrical wiring so avoiding brick walls and other hinderences
Let's be careful out there !

Not a fan of range extenders as they mean a second SSID address and maybe a manual device change is needed

A mesh system, IMO, is far better and what I've got

A mesh is the same SSID and as you move about your device accesses via the strongest signal

I use a mesh system throughout the house; main in the lounge, one in the kitchen and one in the shed outside

I use this: TP-Link Deco M4 Whole Home Mesh WiFi … 3 pack

It’s worked perfectly for about three years and gives WiFi to the bottom of the garden with no problem as well as out on the street

I found range extenders absolutely useless

My parents used a TP Link system for many years,  I don't know what model it was. It worked well.

I have one TP link plug-in range extender unit which works well. Gadgets switch easily between router and extender. However, it doesn’t help with the car which is parked 50 yards away!

Did my update today, worked well connecting to home wi-fi via TP-link Deco Mesh.
Took less than 10 mins.

I’ve just done a HERE map update by parking the car outside the flat to use the router. I tried 3 UK regions. The downloads of the first two just took a couple of minutes each, but the subsequent updates took more like 10 mins each. The third download got stuck on 1% and I gave up. It was for the north and Scotland so perhaps it spotted I am a Sassenach! I might try the USB method next time.

Ah, so this is what is was?!

Yesterday I drove a short distance to Aldi, I had my hotspot on cos my wife was using it for her phone, so the car was also connected to it.
When back to the car after shopping, the screen was off and buttons not lit up so I tried restarting the car. Then the screen showed the "System update completed" message.
From there it was a nightmare as the Google maps and Waze navigation were broken, it would not find a route or if connected the phone after starting the route, it would cancel the navigation within 15 seconds.
I had to find a video on how to access a diagnostics mode to do a system reboot, luckily that fixed it.

Very hit and miss from Honda

So this is what our world has finally come to?
We are unable to find our way home even from "a short distance to Aldi"?

I have always updated my satnav for full maps using USB stick. I format the stick before the procedure and never had any problems.    The procedure is basically the same  for both Garmin and Here  (except  for "here" I also had to download their equivalent of Garmin express)    IIRC 'Here'  requires much more free memory on the stick than Garmin did , which suggests their maps use more data.
My IQ test came back negative

To be fair to JamXRS, at no point does he mention "home" as either his point of origin or his destination. It's entirely possible that he's staying at a holiday location and doesn't know the local roads, or that he's going on somewhere after doing the shopping.

My 23 reg. Crosstar tells me that Updates are available. It can find half a dozen routers, but not mine.
I tried the USB update method, but the site says "no updates available."
What's going on?
It's done this twice in three days now.

How can it notify you that updates are available when you are not connected to the internet?
Things should serve me, not me them
