Another gearbox bearing question
« on: June 19, 2025, 08:19:50 PM »
Afer being converted to the Jazz, I'm on the hunt for another one. Just been to look at 58 plate - 80,000 miles. I could hear the very slight whine noise as the clutch came up, no where near as bad as my current 130,000 miler. My question, is there always a slight noise even with a healthy bearing or does any noise indicate that it's on it's way out (eventually), cheers

There is not normally a noise.
So it's prob on the way out.  Only time can tell when. You could budget for a rebuild.
