Fit tracker and lower insurance??
« on: February 17, 2025, 01:17:27 PM »
General question of course - but is it worth fitting a simple tracker to my Jazz and will it reduce insurance??

The Honda+ app does kinda act like a tracker - do you use that?

The Motor Insurers Bureaux may already take account of the Honda + app tracker when setting the insurance grouping.   Even if not all owners activate the tracker  car thieves will know  that some Jazz will be tracked and this lowers the chances they will risk stealing any Jazz.

If any Insurers give a discount for an after market tracker it may be small.    A 'specialist' broker like Adrian Flux may be able to help.

Insurers would probably want a Thatcham-approved device to have any chance of it making a difference. Not sure whether that would meet your idea of "a simple tracker".

Some insurers will give a discount if you have a 'black box' fitted to analyse your driving
Let's be careful out there !

If the thieving so and so's can nick a top end car in the blink of an eye which is perhaps fitted with every possible anti theft device known to man I'm sure a Jazz will be a piece of cake, if they want it they'll have it  ;)

Isn't it possible to just turn off/disconnect the Honda app from the infotainment screen, thus neutralising the tracker thingy?.

What about Apple air-tags?
I read somewhere not long ago were a chap with a BMW found his stolen car, and a chap who had his luggage stolen at Gatwick.. both of whom had these air-tags hidden in their belongings.

Not sure if it would help lower the insurance though.
