Compare Insurance sites.
« on: January 23, 2025, 07:57:51 PM »
Looking to get a new jazz soon - went on several compare insurance sites - ALL came up with same list - Jazz hybrid started at 2015 and went backwards. Anybody found same problem?

I think the MK4 is not known as 'hybrid' but e:hev

Can't be sure on insurance comparison sites as I've never used them

Try to get a reg No and put that in and see what car it thinks it is
Let's be careful out there !

It works if I put my car reg etc in - but I dont want to do that - I want to compare what, if I bought a Jazz advance, in the coming weeks what insurance costs - but as I say - nothing shows - they ALL show the same drop down menu - makes you wonder how independent of each other these sites are. If I go to an individual insurance company then I get a result - but hey - the whole Idea of comparison sites is NOT to have to do it individually!!

If you put the reg in for your Crosstar the companies with the cheapest will probably be the cheapest for other Mk4 Jazz models

Try looking on Autotrader for a car which shows the reg no , some adverts do, and get a quote using that.

I'm not really clear why you're having trouble. I'm not looking to buy, but just out of curiosity I've looked at the Money Supermarket site (other comparison sites are available)...
https://www.moneysupermarket.com/car-insurance/insurance/
... and started the quote tool. If you use the option "find your car by make and model", then answer all the questions, you get to drop-downs that allow you to pick the exact year, model, and trim level you want.

When I changed my existing insurance to the 2024 car the new registration number was not yet recognised by the  motor insurers bureaux database.. But by entering it as a  2024 Honda Jazz   it was easy to select  the correct version and trim level from a drop down menu.

I used compare.com and Tesco was by far and away the cheapest I have just renewed for the second year with them, Aviva wanted £880!!!!!! Tesco (£362 last year) £418 this year (2021 Kia eNiro 4+ full EV)
They are a PROPER insurance company, part of Tesco Bank. NOT a mickey mouse third party front like Lloyds Bank, John Lewis, AA etc, etc, who are merely 'fronts' for brokers.

SWMBO JAZZ, was insured by Lloyds bank (we thought!) turned out she had to deal with 5 different companies* when her car was T boned and written off by an idiot.
* 1.Report to Insurance told to 2.contact local VW??? dealer to confirm write off, 3.scrap yard to collect wreck,
4.car hire firm for courtesy car,  5. Physio for neck damage.
Talk about DIY insurance!!! Took months to get the money out of Lloyds
The stress of all that nearly caused mental stress problems, worse than the physical damage to her.  Never again!! PUKA insurance company from now on.  BE WARNED!

That will be next time. I think the current renewal price is reasonable. It has only gone up £30, which I think is par for the course.

Just had my renewal. I was fearing the worst   .  But it was  16 % LESS  than last year. :o   Same broker , same Insurance company underwriting it , same Cover.

'Auto Sergei' the meercat also sent me unsolicited  quotes by email. (Presumably based on a search I made last year. )   These were a bit cheaper  and would  suffice for many owners , but on checking the small print  their  cover was not as good in some respects  ,especially regarding foreign  use .One of the areas where I am not normal :P

I had read that insurance may be coming down  a bit due to the 20 mph speed limits. But not expecting 16% .

My pessimistic side then started wondering why it had been so expensive last year.  But I  checked other quotes at the time and also decided then to pay the extra.

Just as I was celebrating  our annual travel /health  insurance renewal  arrived. (again not something everyone needs)   That had gone up by £15.   :(

As I've posted a few times, be very wary of comparison sites as some have exclusions hidden deep in the small print

One young driver was unaware that his policy did not cover driving at night. He only found out when he went into a broker for his next quote and the broker, a friend of mine, tried to find why his previous quote was so cheap
Let's be careful out there !
