Difference between 1.2 and 1.4 transmission
« on: September 24, 2024, 08:33:06 PM »
Is there a difference between 1.2 and 1.4 manual transmissions other than gear ratios? I have to replace my gearbox and I found a good deal for a transmission from 1.2 (I have 1.4) and I wonder if it fit in my Jazz.

Thanks :D

I don't know for sure, but I would think they're identical.

The Haynes manual shows the 1.2 (1246 cc) having an identical bore to the 1.4 (1339 cc) engine, the only difference being the stroke is 74.4 mm on the 1.2 and 80.0 mm on the 1.4 engine.

The manual gerarbox section suggests that there is no difference .... both have the same ratios and it never mentions any differences between the two.

It was always a puzzle to me why Honda made two engines when they are so similar .... possibly for tax or insurance group legislation in various parts of the world at the time ?
