They are Japan Domestic Market (JDM) bumper inserts with reflectors which replace the original fake ducts.

Not sure I would pay for this modification just for aesthetic reasons. Unless they are legally required because the rear lamp clusters don't have reflectors.  My mk 4 has lower reflectors as standard as I don't think the clusters have them.   Incidentally I think it's illegal in Japan to have any writing etc cast onto light lenses. Cars imported into Japan  often had to have makers names ,E markings etc shaved off and polished smooth

I didn’t need the reflectors for legal reasons, just personal choice and I enjoy personalising my car without ruining its looks.

The total cost delivered from Japan was less than the cost of a 5 litre can of oil, so no great expense.

I agree, far more useful than fake ducts, why they bother making 2 different items is a mystery.
