voice control unavailable
« on: March 17, 2024, 08:15:16 PM »
I sometimes use voice control for things like "play INXS" from my USB-stick which previously worked flawlessly.

Today upon pressing the voice control button I was surprised by a message which probably translates to:

"Voice control messages are presently unavailable and being prepared. Please try again at a later time."

This condition however prevails and I have no idea what I did "wrong" since it worked a few days ago :o
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Somehow the problem has resolved itself and the voice commands are available once again.

On the search for a "soft reset" function (none found so far) I dabbled a bit in the hidden menu and on returning to the normal screen the voice control was back.

It is all a bit strange. I have found a similar thread in an other forum - alas without actual solution as well.

However that chap was smart enough to snap a picture of the (german) message:

I have finally found the solution!

Everything is fine with the car! It is working as intended.
I was just thrown by the finer details of voice control (my bad).  :-[

The voice control in the Jazz works like this (it is a bit obscure in the manual):

* use a short press for "normal" built-in voice commands
* a long press (actually not so long as I've found out) will activate the voice assistant of a coupled smartphone

As I have no phone coupled to the car there are no voice commands available on a "long" press.

I've avoided voice control since my old 8G Civic

I remember trying to be clever and adjust the heating and it changed the radio channel to AM with just hissing. As I was on a motorway I had to wait for about half an hour to pull over and sort it out as none of my subsequent voice commands made any changes

It's probably moved on since then but I just don't trust it
Let's be careful out there !
