Sat Nav no voice
« on: January 06, 2024, 07:07:05 PM »
I had car in for a repair and they took it on a 13 mile test run. I think they been messing about with the controls. The heated seats controls were on maximum, the info screen just above steering wheel was stuck on “!”, two bars on petrol gauge when I handed it in with four and sat nav no voice. It’s Sat night so not happy. I switched off the heated seats and eventually after fiddling with selector wheel left side of steering wheel I got info screen back to normal. When I went out in car message displayed saying I need petrol so filled up with just over 27 litres. For sat nav no voice, after watching a YouTube, I went into General Settings, System, System Volumes and Navigation Guidance the volume is very high so stumped on what can it be?. Still no voice. Any ideas?.

Could the heated seats and steering wheel on maximum use the extra petrol?.

Extract from Navigation Manual:
How do I turn on the navigation system voice guidance?
● Adjust the volume using the volume knob during the
voice guidance.
● Press the button.
Select General Settings > System > System
Volumes.
Turn up volume level of Navigation Guidance if it is
low.

That might help!
If you have the radio or music on, the sat nav will reduce the volume of the radio/music with the voice guidance, when that happens you can adjust the volume of the voice guidance using controls on the steering wheel. In your case you will probably have the radio or music reduced in volume and not hear the voice guidance because someone turned the volume right down.
Or you may have a bigger problem!!

Its: Navigation > Settings > Restore Navigation Settings.
Hope that works.
I know on Waze or Google maps you can turn the voice off, don't know if you can on the inbuilt nav, I haven't come across it, but that doesn't mean its not in there somewhere, maybe in the hidden menu.

The 8 tiles on the audio screen are Apps. No.1 in the image is the navigation app.

There is a Data reset function in the settings of the navigation app.

Thank you. I had been in car looking around and found the restore option.

Navigation, three dots, Settings, About, Restore Navigation Settings then Restore

Not made any difference so still no sound.

...This was for the reset, not the volume. I think you have looked in all the right places for the volume.
The only thing I can think of was trying to alter the volume whilst the Nav was giving directions also had an effect (although that may have been mentioned for another brand altogether  ;D :-\)

That indeed works. It just requires responsiveness and quick action... My wife in the passenger seat is really good at it! ;D
