Have you tried wired ?

Btw, I have tried both wired and wireless. I used the original cable, Anker brand cable. None worked without any lag.

Today Apple released iOS 17.1.1, but I haven't tested it yet.

I used to have terrible lag with GoogleMaps via Apple CarPlay. iPhone XR. Bluetooth connection, no wire.

No problem at all when I switched to Apple Maps. Until I updated to iOS17 recently, now there is a lag. I supposed the problem was that this old iPhone has a problem with iOS17. I'll try with my wife's iPhone13 (also running iOS17) and report back.

Problem is not the phone, it is most likely the car. I have 15 Pro and I can use these apps(apple maps, google maps, waze, tomtom) in Skoda without any problems. Apple Maps and Waze works slightly better than others.

Has anyone managed to get an answer or solution to this?

Am having the same problem, response from Honda was because this issue isn't known to affect my model (22 Jazz crosstar hybrid) there's nothing wrong. Want to escalate but good to know if anyone else has managed to get anywhere with this.

I haven't got any resolution yet, I brought my car to Gatwick Honda and Bognor Regis, they both replied that it is known isssue and suggested me to use Android. I bought very cheap android phone just for this reason. I will never buy Honda again. The issue doesn't exist on HRV even they both have same unit (as far as I can see), this means the problem might be resolved with an software update but it seems Honda just doesn't care.

We have 2-4 second time lag problems using Apple Car Play on I-phone SE (2nd Gen) iOS 17.6.1 with Google Maps and Waze.
Using original Apple lightning/usb connection.

I’m sure it’s a slow or poor capacity processor in the head unit. I have a 2020 C-RV and have NO time lag issues whatsoever (I think that’s an Alpine Head Unit for the infotainment.

One other possibility is ensuring Bluetooth is off on the phone when it’s cable connected (something I’ve yet to try myself on the wife’s Jazz!)

I‘ve fixed it by using one of these:  CarlinKit 5,0 2air. It seems this forces carplay to use the cars gps and maybe reduces the video framerate. No lag anymore with google maps, HereWeGo…

@otmar thanks for the tip, I will also try this and give feedback here as soon as I test myself.

Having become completely fed up with the lagging navigation with my iPhone, I ended up swapping it out for a Pixel 8.

Generally, apps like Waze/Google maps work better but now I find Android Auto crashes - sometimes it will crash occasionally, other times it can crash three times in ten minutes. Both the iPhone and Pixel have been connected using a wire.

This is one of the reasons I'm getting rid of my Jazz after 18 months.

Since switching to wired my Android Auto connection has been 100% reliable

Connects immediately on head unit start plus I'm using satellite view which I assume transfers more data

So is it a Jazz or phone setup issue ?

Out of interest, do you ever use Waze for navigation? Out of the apps I've used, there seems to be more Android Auto crashes when using it (yet not crash-free with Google Maps or Tom Tom).

I tried it once and it wasn't for me

I didn't like the display compared to Google Maps satellite view

The main reason I switched back was that on the MK4 Jazz, Waze has a bug when sending navigation data to the driver display on some turns

At a roundabout for example, if you are told to go straight on, the driver display should show a line with a small semi circle then another line with arrow pointing straight ahead

Instead, under Waze, it would display the graphics for making a 360 turn and going back where you came from. Works perfectly OK in Google Maps

The Waze display on the headunit was correct, just the driver display

They may have fixed it as this was just over 2 years ago

Let's be careful out there !

I have been testing it for a while, and it has been working without any issue so far. I think my problem resolved.
