myHonda+ subscription changes
« on: November 02, 2023, 04:12:22 PM »
Just received this email:

My Honda+ subscriptions
are undergoing some
exciting changes
We're changing the way you pay for My Honda+, making it simpler to access all of the great features My Honda+ offers.

In the coming weeks, you'll be able to enjoy the following:

Complimentary access: Customers will now enjoy free access to all My Honda+ features until their car's third registration anniversary.

Simplified subscription: After the initial complimentary period, you can continue using all My Honda+ features for just £4.99 per month, eliminating the need for separate subscriptions.

What this means for you:

We'll transfer you to this new subscription model in the coming weeks. As an existing My Honda+ customer you'll receive:
-   Complimentary access to all My Honda+ features for the next 40 months.

After that, you can continue using all My Honda+ features for just £4.99 per month.

If you're currently making payments for My Honda+ and don’t want to switch to the new subscription model, you can request a pro-rata refund by sending an email to connectedservices.support@honda-eu.com. To qualify, you'll need to do this by 15/11/2023.

We're excited by these changes, because we believe it offers our customers a simpler subscription – allowing you to access more of My Honda+ for less.

Thank you for being a valued My Honda+ customer.

Yes, I received a similar email from Honda anouncing a monthly fee of €4,99 after another 38 months of free services. So, no worries for the next couple of years?

As a matter of fact I'm unimpressed by the Honda+ app. Basically the only service I use on a regular basis is looking at the stats - mainly fuel consumption - of the various trips I've done with my Jazz, which I sadly cannot retrieve on the infotainment system of my car. My Lancia Lybra from 2000 easily offered this info for free!

Not sure whether the services are worth the future fee.

...You should get a location of your car.
Fuel level, miles left.
Overall mileage.
Ability to lock and unlock (and sound the horn) remotely.
This also allows you to add another driver, who in turn can also unlock the car. Handy if you have the key and the wife gets back to the car before you do, at least she can let herself in  ;D

You also get the open/lock status of the doors, windows, boot and bonnet.

The additional safety & journey package, which was £29.99 a year added a constant location update via map and the geofence feature to alert if the car moves outside of your predetermined area.
Send destinations to the onboard sat nav from your phone and review previous journeys.

Some people find this useful other don't appear to.

All useful, but £60 a year useful - meh. How much does it cost them to run the service? Still they may have changed their mind again in 2 years time.

...What is £60 a year?

Core connectivity was free until 2030 and the other safety & journey package was £29.99

Has that gone up to £60?

Shufty - it would seem so, as the £29.99 per year looks now to be £4.99 per month.

I'd just stick with the free one then when the other package runs out!

... Looking at my available subscriptions, the safety and journey package is still only £29.99?
Where are you looking that shows it at £60?

I confess to being a little confused, by the Email I have received from Honda.

My Advance Jazz is coming up to 4 months old and has the 5 year service plan attached.
The Email I received appears to make 2 conflicting statements as follows-:

''Customers will now enjoy free access to ALL My-Honda+ features until the car's third registration anniversary'' (which presumably means 36 months old)

However, it also says, What it means for me - ''Complementary access to ALL My-Honda features for the next 44 months''. (which I guess for me means 48 months minus the 4 months already used)

The capital ALL is mine, which to my mind includes paid for features like the Geo-Fence & Honda Digital Roadside Assistance, in fact everything that the App has to offer.

So' if correct, I will be quite happy to receive access to all features for 44 months FOC.
For me the most important feature is the Car Locator which I can use in the event the car is stolen.

Perhaps Honda can elaborate further?

...Well if that's the case then it must include the Honda assistance which is £49 a year.
So that would be almost £80 in total.
I don't know what the core connectivity would cost as it looks like they only intend to let that run for 10 years until 2030 (as I assume it began for the 2020 model)

...I did find the Honda assistance pants though as it could never understand me yet Google assistant has no problem!

Id rather they (Honda) paid for live traffic etc for their basically hopeless navigation system. Using my 5 year old tom tom in a new car is basically diabolical. I know google maps etc can be had but for the cost of the car their nav system is nothing short of a rip off.
