ABS & TCS lights on - 790B fault code
« on: August 10, 2023, 10:12:26 AM »
My 2013 Honda Jazz has recently developed an issue where the ABS and TCS amber lights come on unexpectedly. These lights illuminate randomly while driving, but they turn off once the car is turned off. After restarting the vehicle, I can drive anywhere from a few miles to hundreds of miles before the lights come on again. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and found a solution? Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

I had codes scanned: 790B "Unknown fault code" (Honda's own fault code?)

Also: 92-20 and B1232 which are not probably related to this ABS lights issue.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Sorry to hear of the trouble.

The manual is here: http://hondafitjazz.com/manual3/index.html - lots of info re the ABS/TCS system.

Sounds like it could be a wheel sensor at fault. I'd have a check of the wiring see if any damage.

Very much a generalisation across many vehicles, but the most common cause of ABS/TCS warnings is the sensors. Different cars have different occurrence rates, but it's not that uncommon. I don't know if your model is at all prone to this. It can depend a bit on what type of pole-wheel the car uses, whether a stamped slotted sheet type or cast-in tooth features in a hub etc.

My Fabia does that now and again but not for a while. Had a 100-mile jaunt yesterday and it never came on. It always resets when I switch off and back on, Must be Windows driven!

Check the voltage of your 12 battery first. Low voltages affect sensor readings.  And it's free..

Battery was checked and it was fine.

Also brake fluid was normal.

As others have commented check battery especially the earth strap both ends . I would do a  recon charge anyhow.

Upon due reflection, I would carefully check all ABS cabling for each wheel checking for obvious signs of damage. Then  break open each line connector - one per wheel- and  use Contact Cleaner on all connections.-(usually inside the car  adjacent to each wheel). Intermittent faults are usually caused by corrosion or physical damage.
