Wonder what our differences are

My Google Maps is spot on and there is no lag, and I'm running in satellite view which presumably uses more data

Samsung S23+ on a wired connection, but even when I used wireless, once it had connected, no lag
Let's be careful out there !

Today I checked for map updates and 2025.10 version is available. I tried it and updating went quite well except right after the update the map turned all black and got stuck with a text saying "Locating Satellites".

Fortunately I found these instructions that got my stuck map working again: https://www.gen3insight.com/threads/map-data-is-loading-for-3-days-now-no-navigation.5054/
"SETTINGS > SYSTEM > DETAIL INFO > APP MANAGER > NAVIGATION > STORAGE > CLEAR DATA"
Unfortunately this fix also deleted all my previously saved destinations from the map.

Researching for a replacement car for our second car which has just been written off after a low speed argument with a metal gate post, I checked the latest Jazz website and noted that the advertised SatNav comes with live traffic details.  Does anyone know if this can be retro fitted to the Mk4?  I asked customer services but they did said they doubted it without any suggestion that they go away and find out.

The latest models come with mapping by "HERE" and  its significantly different to the previous garmin . I think I read on another thread one of the reasons for changing to "HERE" was it was compatible  with the new requirement for speed alerts.   I doubt it would be possible to convert the  Garmin to "HERE"  . There might be unofficial hacks but that would be risky.

On a recent trip down to Cornwall I got no traffic alerts on "HERE"  (despite delays on the  M25)  The Instruction manual  does seem to suggest its not available in all areas but its not clear if that means  not all areas of the UK, or not in the UK at all.  (Even the Garmin gives traffic alerts in Germany)  I asked on a previous thread if anyone knows if "HERE"  gives live data  anywhere in the UK   but no one has replied.  There is also some vague mention of a paid subscription service, which might activate  Live traffic. I've not bothered to look into it further.

If you spoke to "Honda" customer services its likely you actually spoke to TWG services Ltd , who are an independent  business solutions provider acting as  agents for Honda.  They know very little  about the cars and have little incentive to be helpful .  You may do better speaking to a Honda dealership.

Having run various Garmin PND's for nearly 2 decades I can comfortably say that Google Maps via your phone is far superior in both display and navigation

I've ditched both my recent Garmins as they just didn't cut it in domparison
Let's be careful out there !

I'd like to try out Android Auto on my MY21 Crosstar. Is there a thread which gives precise details on how to set this up?

From the online manual :

Android Auto

When you connect an Android phone to the audio system via the USB port, Android

Auto is automatically initiated. When connected via Android Auto, you can use the
audio/information screen to access the Phone, Google Maps (Navigation), Google
Play Music, and Google Now functions. When you first use Android Auto, a tutorial
will appear on the screen.

Map update available at last but...

Gamin Express finally advised me that a map update WAS now available so one blank USB stick and 30 minutes download later I connected said USB stick to my vehicle and clicked on the 'USB Map Update' button only to be given the message 'No Device Connected. Connect a compatible USB device to the vehicle to use this feature'.
Ummm, so how does one explain the following message i get on the Navigation screen when i click on the top line "MAP UPATE is connected" (Map Update being the name of my USB Stick)?  See images.

Any suggestions please?

Make sure the USB stick is 16Gb and formatted to FAT or FAT32 using 'default allocation units'

It is 16GB and formatted to FAT32. I have no idea what 'default allocation units' are, but the USB stick is the one I successfully used for the one, and only update I have managed previously.

When you format on Windows, one of the dropdowns is default allocation units amongst other options

Then follow the 'click here' to watch the video

I have an iMac rather than a Windows machine, but on third attempt the update has now been completed.  Yahooo!

I'm not bothering this year because I've never used the Garmin map since I got the car

I've always used Google Maps which is far better and certainly more up to date

Absolutely agree, do the same, but I'm still updating while it's free just to have a fallback if something happens to your phone.
