Tailgate touch sensor (for locking the car)?
« on: January 19, 2023, 04:21:12 PM »
I really like the touch sensors on both door handles; it is very easy to open and close the car. But I experience something very annoying (in my opinion): you can unlock the car by pressing the tailgate release button, but after closing the tailgate there is no touch sensor to lock the car. So I have to walk around it to touch one of the front door handles.

Am I just missing the touch sensor (I have looked for it but cannot find it) or is it not there at all? Did some of you find it?

PS: of course I could use the key fob, but they call it 'keyless entry'. I also interpret it as 'keyless locking'...

That rubber coated button on the tailgate works to lock the car as well.

Press once to lock and twice to superlock. Note - press.
Let's be careful out there !

Thanks! I gently put my finger against it and nothing happened; now I know why  :D.

To clarify on this, there is a small separate button to the RIGHT of the big boot realease button. It has 3 dimples on it and it is that button that needs to be pressed to lock all the doors/tailgate/mirrors.
Press twice to double lock.

Let us know how you get on!

It is clearly stated in the manual (yes, also in the Dutch version ;)) page 171

Touch the door lock sensor on the
front door, or press the lock button
on the tailgate.

If nothing goes right, go left!

I found it and it works! I know I should have RTFM, but I did read it completely when I bought the car 14 months ago. It just didn’t stick… Thanks!!!

Well I never knew that! So excited I had to go outside in the cold and dark to try it out - which was handy as I'd forgotten to lock it after putting some bags back in the boot earlier on this afternoon!
