Electrical question
« on: November 02, 2021, 06:41:45 PM »
Can the jazz handle x3 dash cams worth electricity via the cigarette lighter extension at one time when the head lights are on and the heaters are on? Im worried about the load what it can handle when the other electricals are on including the radio or will I blow the fuse?
At the moment my car has two dash cams and thinking of getting a 3rd one due to an incident when a car reversed to the side of my car at a super market car park. Both my front and rear cameras didn't catch the incident

I run my dashcam, my phone for satnav, and a GPS speedometer. The socket is more than powerful enough. I run a 10A tyre compressor at times so three dash cams are nothing.

I'm curious about your gps speedometer. What is it used for and why do you need one when there's a speedometer in the car? Any chance for a picture of it too pls? Tia!

The GPS speedometer has a lovely clear display, a bit like that of the Civic, and it is more accurate than the in-car speedometer. It doesn't have the inbuilt safety margin of a manufacturer's fitted speedo. It is also an accurate digital clock and I even have it set to display height above sea level, which is of little use other than as a talking point!

Given the 'senior moment' post, height above sea level could be useful  ;D
Let's be careful out there !

My Garmin Satnav gives speed and elevation above sea level.
Do you find there is any difference in results between your GPS speedometer and your Satnav ?
If not, then why both ?
I still use my Garmin, as I find it much better that the inbuilt car satnav.

This is the one I bought currently £37.99.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Powcan-Speedometer-OverSpeed-Voltmeter-Universal/dp/B07YG3BXTL/ref=sr_1_3?crid=36ZVMVGOB7U4W&keywords=speedometer+car&qid=1636024184&sprefix=speedometer%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-3

I find my GPS speedometer and both my dashcams read the same but my GPS reads 1 mph higher. Whether it is down to the other functions of the GPS meaning there is a delay or possibly just a rounding difference.

The speedometer display on the GPS (TomTom Go on Android) is not easily seen on a busy display plus I don't always have my phone connected.

I have the same one from Amazon albeit with a different brand name, about £25 when I purchased it about a year ago. I find it much easier to read than the Speedo especially in 30mph zones as that is a just a line on the Speedo.

Nice to see you posting Jocko.

Can’t this be connected by OBD2 for more accurate reading of the speed?
