Other than using black felt sheets on the dashboard I have never found anything else that worked.
Its strange that its only some drivers which notice it .
I like the MK4 but if I get the same reflections I wont buy one

I too have this dashboard mat fitted and found it to be excellent and fits extremely well, the only issue I have had with it is that our driveway is on a steep slope so I have had to secure it at the front with double sided tape tags to stop it slipping down…..otherwise it’s very effective in removing glaring reflections to the screen.

The icing on the cake is a wearing a pair of Polaroid sunglasses to fully eliminate any residual reflections and glare from smooth road surfaces.

Thoroughly recommend this particularly at the price point

It's been almost a year since I wrote:

Maybe try looking through the windscreen instead of looking at the windscreen... 

I’ve never had a problem with reflections on any of the 8 Jazz cars that I have owned.
Currently on my second Mk4 Advance.
However, using Jazzik’s theory of looking AT the screen rather than THROUGH it, yes I can see reflections!
So, it would seem that his theory is correct and it may be drivers who have a problem, are in fact perhaps subconsciously, looking AT the reflections.
Quite obviously they need to retrain their vision to disregard the reflections.and look  THROUGH  the screen, which they should be doing anyway .

That's exactly what I meant: if I WANT to see the reflections I can actually see them!
But normally I look quite far ahead when I'm driving, much further than the windscreen where I can see that reflection (if I really would like to... ).

Another benefit of a dashboard mat is that is prevents items from sliding off the dashboard. For example I sometimes put my gloves on the dashmat and they stay there while driving. The dashboard itself is quite slippery.

It's actually caused by the laws of physics as the inside of the windscreen acts as a see-through mirror. In vehicles with more steeply sloping windscreens any light reflected off the dashboard goes above the driver's head. The Jazz's more gently sloping windscreen means this reflected light can be at the driver's eyeball level, depending on how the driver sits.

Having lived for 3 1/2 years with the occasional refection of the dash in the windscreen, the past few weeks in this endless sunshine, the direct glare from the dashboard it self has been a real problem for me, so I finally purchased a dashboard cover from Amazon. Ok it has a trendy red edge which I could do without, but it was the only one I could find at the time with next day delivery.
Quickly fitted and wow, what a difference. For any who remain sceptical, it completely eliminates the direct glare from the glossy dashboard and almost completely eliminates the reflection in the windscreen.
Worth every penny
