Replacing Front Left Engine Mount
« on: March 22, 2021, 11:27:08 PM »
Hey folks, has anyone replaced their front left engine mount before? Wondering what needs to come off to get it out (and in)?

Ive changed something called front strut mount recently and it looks so much different to your picture. It was a big fat rubber bush. Are you sure of the picture?

Pic looks okay to me, front transmission mount.

Not done one, but normally just a matter of access - remove the battery, battery tray, air filter box and pipework, the mount is directly under the battery tray - took me about 10 minutes to dismantle to that point when doing the gearbox oil change. You'll then need a trolley jack with a block of wood or hard rubber under the gearbox to support it while you swap the mount.

Shouldn't be too bad to do.

Blimey! That part is quoted at £98.60. I would be making my way to Ebay for a much cheaper alternative.

front strut mount
The front strut mount is at the top of the front suspension, where it mounts onto the bodywork.

Plus VAT, of course!  ;)

You wouldn't want to build a car from parts bought from a Honda dealer  ;D

Thanks for that $17 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015ZTHZJO/ looks to be the same part number for a bunch of Hondas 50840-SAA-003

I think Jocko just assumed you were in the UK, this being a UK forum, and found the cheapest one available here in the UK. Your link to amazon comes up at $40 shipped for us here!

It's worth adding your country and which Jazz/Fit model and engine you have in your forum profile, because some bits of the car are different here - we never got the 1.5 engine for example.

Flow's profile says 03 1.3 manual, which made me think UK. You only get an 03 in the US if you import it.

Cheers Jocko, NZ actually, non forsit. Noteworthy that the part looks to be used across a number of models which opens up purchasing regions, especially if you are at the last buss stop before Antarctica like us.

Stick it in your profile

...if you don't, we'll forget and be asking you again. Bear in mind that we've all gone quite mad over here from all the lockdowns.

Indeed, it must be frustrating for you guys. We have worked hard down here to keep a sense of normality and enjoy the luxury of not taking things too seriously... Take care of your selves (and each other).
