Strange error
« on: March 08, 2021, 05:07:26 PM »
Hi
My 2017 mk3 Jazz has a strange fault and cannot see it in the handbook.
I think it is when I put my foot on the brake pedal it comes up with the A picture with a battery next to it with a line through the battery, thought that it was the battery playing up saying low in power, had to do a run today but noticed it again. Would appreciate any thoughts please. Many thanks

Page 106. Are you sure it is not the top symbol that could be mistaken for a battery?

Found this on here - A USA Honda Fit Forum has a method to reset the ECU without disconnecting the battery as follows :-

When you see the Auto Stop/Battery disabled symbol
1. With the engine running, pull the bonnet release catch - dashboard indicates that the bonnet has been released.
2. Turn the engine off.
3. Exit the car and open and close the bonnet.

Auto stop will then work normally again.  I have tried this procedure and strangely seems to work.

The "A" symbol is for the auto stop-start, and the battery symbol is telling you it's not working because the battery charge is low. It's nothing to worry about, because the stop-start system is hyper-sensitive to all kinds of things, including whether the battery temperature is low which is perceived by the sensors as a low charge state. That's likely to happen if the car is cold-soaked outside overnight in winter. My experience has been that the stop-start doesn't work throughout the coldest winter months, and starts functioning again as the weather warms up. That doesn't prevent the car starting first time when you turn the key.

Thank you very much, very helpful. As you say it starts without an issue, will wait for the Summer months and not expecting any issues. Does any one happen to know what the life of the battery is likely to be ? ty

I had the battery flag for the stop/start not working on my car when I got it. It was only 2 yrs old and the battery was fine.
It has a charge "counter" device on the earth lead, a small black box right next to the battery terminal. If it thinks too much has gone out and not enough has gone in it will give this warning and cease the stop/start function.

I convinced mine that it was OK by connecting a spare lamp (motorbike headlamp bulb) directly to the battery terminals so it discharged the battery a bit but NOT through the charge monitor device, so it wasn't aware that charge had been drained from the battery. I probably drained around 8Ah from it, 4amps for a couple of hours. You don't want to flatten it.
I then used a charger, but you could just as well simply run the engine again, so it charged the battery back up THROUGH the charge monitor. This seemed to successfully convince it that more has gone in than had come out, and since then I've not had the battery icon and the stop/start works as intended.

as suggested tried this procedure, did not work for me, has anyone else tried it and it worked? ty
