I’ve had my Mk4 Jazz for just over two weeks now, and so far I can’t say there’s anything to dislike. It does exactly what it says on the tin. The active driving aids are new to me, and have surprised me a few times with a sudden intervention, but they’re never illogical, so it’s just sth to get used to. I’m quickly learning how and when to use them.
There are however two things I didn’t expect from a (or any) brand new Honda. Firstly there’s the clear difference in panel gap on the left and right hand side of the bonnet. I noticed this when giving the Jazz it’s first wash. I won’t be returning my car over this, but I’m really surprised a made in Japan Honda has this issue... (I’ve always heard that Japan made Hondas are supposed to be the best?)
Secondly there’s the somewhat more annoying problem of rattling front windows when slightly open (no more than a few cm). Even on reasonably good road surfaces there’s the odd rattle. Once the windows are opened more than about 5 cm, the rattling stops. I’ve notified my dealer, who in turn notified Honda HQ. Currently I’m awaiting their reply.
My favourite thing about the Jazz is the fact that it doesn’t follow market trends (unlike the new Yaris) and stays true to it’s origins. Understated design, easy to use, compact and highly practical while also being nice, even fun, to drive.
