My heating doesn't go up to 70mph. I just have three speed settings.

In winter, with heating (I have more heating than I need) but as I seldom drive above 60 mph - 70 mph. No.

I would never have considered a Jazz. I was into bigger cars (Carlton, Cavalier, Volvo S40). I never particularly rated the Jazz's appearance one way or another.
My Volvo was getting near the end of its life, so I looked for something I could afford. I looked at a couple of cars before the Jazz, but both were sold by the time I saw the adverts. I saw the Jazz and went and had a look. This was the dealer's photo.

I bought it, and then a week later was extremely disappointed when my brother put his 55 plate Accord up for sale (immaculate, low miles, full dealer service history, leather upholstery and automatic). I could have had that.
However, we are now almost five years on, and I have grown to love it.

I still think the mk1 look great, especially in that colour. I think the styling details on the later models look fussy by comparison.

Leather seats you can keep. This is the first and last car I've had with leather seats - sweaty in summer, and stone cold in winter. It's a good job they're heated, or you would end up with hypothermia.

And slippy. I remember sliding about in the back the one time we went for a meal with our respective wives.

Can't say I'm sold on the Mk1 styling. I suspect they put the then current Civic in front of one of those fairground mirrors that makes things look tall and thin and said, That'll do.'

Could be fun - I’m wondering how you were seated.  Working class - men in front, women behind;  middle class - married couple in front, same behind;  upper class - man and the other wife in front, same behind.

I had a two litre turbo diesel Mondeo estate for years but I always thought when the kids were older and it was just me and the missus, I would get a small petrol car.

About 5 years ago the Mondeo clapped out and I needed to get a replacement a bit quick, I did some research and came up with a list of possibles then went to a car supermarket and just sat in them to see what they felt like, a lot of them just felt too small and closed in but the Jazz felt great.

I test drove a Jazz and a Yaris and I liked them both but the Honda salesman was an old friend so I went for the Jazz.

The Jazz was 2 years old with then 28k on the clock for just over £7k and a service plan included up to 5 years and 62k miles.

5 years on and now on 84k miles, I still think it's great, I like the reliability, economy, space and magic seats, all around vision and the basic simplicity of the controls.

I do like looking at cars and checking what's around but I don't think I could beat it for a reasonable price.

I'm not convinced by the current choice of electric or hybrids available at the going rate so for now I think I will stick with a small petrol car and probably stay with the Jazz for a couple more years yet.

married couple in front, same behind;
I Never thought about the classes configuration but true. It was probably less middle class and more because my brother and his wife arrived together and picked us up in the street.

You're right, it's not far off. Still, it was different for 2001.

My preference for the mk1 stems from disliking fussy details and angles - I like to see curves  ;)

Great thread - but as someone who is seriously considering buying a Crosstar it would be very interesting to know your LEAST favourite thing about your Jazz?

The thing I least like is the useless Infotainment screen/system that is impossible to update with any useful addition  like  an add on Sat Nav etc   Should you require  to do so which is impossible .
The  whole thing was released on the unsuspecting customer with an out of  date Android operating system.
But apart from that I think the Jazz is a superb workhorse  reliable and cavernous in the extreme for its external size.
We use ours for all manner of conveyance such as  animal feed  Straw bedding, in fact anything goes in with space to spare for the driver.
Oops sorry should have said this appertains  to the Mk3.
