Japanese market rotating passenger seat
« on: March 02, 2021, 08:55:02 AM »
For the Japanese market, there appears to be a rotating passenger seat option for the Mk4 Jazz, pictured below.
Coupled with the wide opening doors, it could offer improved access to those with mobility issues and passengers transferring from/to a wheelchair.

Popular in Japan they were just copying the same swivel seat SAAB had in the 1980s.

That Ford Galaxy I had had rotating front seats, great for those with dodgy hips.

You could rotate them 180° if you wished, and use the folded middle seats as a table.

Captains chairs so you could use it as a 'Dayvan'. Very handy.

Add an Abiloader though, and it would make a great option for wheelchair users.

There was a post a while ago saying the passenger seat was too low.

This could kill 2 birds with one stone.
Let's be careful out there !

I would settle for height adjustable seat like the drivers seat.

I too would be happy with a height adjustable passenger seat.
Thought it would have one when I ordered it, very disappointed when I found it didn't have one.

Yes they are popular with Japanese cars. I remember going to Japan about ten years ago and their car brochures always contains a section on disabled drivers which I thought was good.

I know some UK mobility companies specialises in this area but I guess it's not cheap.

Honda Japan appear to offer adaptations, such as below hand control system for brake, accelerator, horn, headlamp flash, indicators and hazard lights, with a fold up driver’s footwell panel to mask the foot pedals during periods when hand controls are in operation.
