Noisy gearbox
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:14:33 PM »
I know this has been posted before on the forum, but i have just spent £327 on a new input bearing. This was fitted by a friend, who is a gearbox expert, he say's this is a  known problem with the jazz gearbox and he's done quite a few. When i spoke to my local Honda dealer he said he had not heard of this problem,(I'm sure his nose grew ???) although the parts department knew exactly what bearing and seal i needed when i went in to order it.

Dealers quite often have a policy of "Never heard of that problem before sir....."

It is a known issue and Honda will warrenty the gearbox if certain conditions are met (age and service history) and if you complain. The same applies to rear wheel bearings and split sealer on the rear of the roof gutter.

My sister has a 5 year old Jazz - 21,000 miles and bought only 15months ago. Fully serviced including only 3 months ago. She has been told she needs a new gear box - £6,000 - she only paid £8,000 for the car - no explanation - no offer of contacting Honda Uk - nothing - can anyone help - she is beside herself with worry and frustration at Honda Newton Croydons attitude and lack of concern.
