Filler cap problem
« on: July 29, 2020, 04:56:34 PM »
I've only had my 58 reg Jazz for a few months but I do a fair amount of miles and regularly fill up every fortnight so I know how to do it!
Today though, the metal flap behind the filler cap would not move. It is stuck solid and the fuel pump nozzle will not push it in. I am nearly on empty and cannot get any fuel in!!!
Does anybody here have any suggestions please?? Mr Google was no help at all.

Try pushing it down with a screwdriver or similar, it is just a spring loaded metal plate... not hinged - just a straight push,  it is an anti-shiphon feature designed to preven a tube being pushed down the filler pipe...
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Best to use a plastic or wooden spoon handle so as not to risk a spark.

Thank you for the tips. I had already had it in mind to try and use something long handled to try and push it in. This morning I took a wooden spatula out to the car and after a little resistance (not as much as I expected given how tough it was to move yesterday) the flap went in.
Back to the filling station - with the spatula in the car just in case!!!
