door creaking whlie driving
« on: July 28, 2019, 02:43:48 PM »
anyone else get this on the passenger door when driving or turning up driveways etc

i thought it was the b pillar at first but if you push the to of the door from the inside on the plastic it makes the same sound (it is really bad at the moment but we have had constant rain for 3 days here so it never dries out)

thanks guys

Had the same problem on both my Jazz’s I used some silicone lubricant on the rubber door seals which so far seems to be a permanent fix

In my case it was the drivers door if I pushed on the glass near the B pillar it would creak the same as it did when driving slowly over bumpy ground ect. I  lubed all 4 doors as a precaution

thanks

once it stops raining i will have a go with the silicone

just glad it is an easy fix as i thought the rain had made something inside the door swell up and make the noise

As well as treating the door rubbers with silicone spray,a drop of oil on the hinges may cure the problem, worked for me in the past.

just put some silicone spray on a rag and wiped the seal down and the noise is instantly better when pushing the plastic trim

i haven't driven the car yet but it should be ok

cheers for the tip guys, its amazing how much the doors flex when the car goes over bumps

This is an interesting topic, one of my rear doors does it if you press the top edge, lubricated the rubber with silicone but for me did not really help.  Took it to the dealer and we tried another jazz and that was the same so was not prepared to do anything which in my view was a poor decision.  So would be interested if anyone has a fix other than the rubber. My only other thought was to adjust the door bracket on the wheel arch.  Did try to move the screws on it but was locked solid so was not able to adjust it.  This issue is quite intermittent as well.

yup just sprayed on the rubber directly wiped it down and all is ok when driving

there was a lot of water on the top of the door which probably caused it

i did have the door open in the rain for a while on sat which caused that

and after one day the noise is coming back ill have to apply some more silicone spray

i just thought it might be due to the rubber stops on the doors too, just turn them out and it might make it a tighter fit

In my jazz the problem is the upper seal, not the soft "ring" sealing the door. I have to lubricate the upper lip every 5000km, moreorless, using silicone grease.

It’s been almost a year since I sprayed my door seals and so far the creaking has not returned there maybe some other reason for your noise
