Parts from MK1 would fit to MK2?
« on: February 10, 2017, 03:38:31 PM »
Hi,

I had an accident this morning and the tailgate and bumper are badly damaged.

I found one Jazz MK1 from 2002 to purchase as breaking but still drivable. A whole car cost less than two parts to purchase separately.

Do you think tailgate and bumper from MK1 and would fit MK2 2009 with an old rear lights shape?

Thanks!

oouucchh. I feel your pain.

The MK1 was distributed up to early 2009 so should not be an issue.

But isn't his 2009 a Mk2? I'm which case I am pretty sure the Mk1 parts won't fit.

Edit. Realise I don't know what a "2009 Mk2 with old rear lights" is, so maybe ignore me. I thought Mk2 were all the same and different from Mk1.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hondaj's black jazz is a mk1, most likely the last model of the line....

That case any general parts from MK1 would suffice. Apart from body kit parts....

Hi,
Thanks for the reply,

I do not know actually what version I have, I do know that the car is from 2009.
I thought that the cars manufactured in years 2009-2015 are called MK2.

It would be great if it can fit as it saves me plenty of money!

taken from extract from history of mk 1 from this website:

"The first generation Honda Jazz was available in the follow models.

On sale since February 2002 (51 plate) until October 2008 (58 plate), with some cars registered in early 2009 due to the economic downturn. Sold as the Honda Fit in some other countries including the United States. All UK market Jazzes were made in Japan until mid-2007 and then in China until end of production in 2008."

All that will be expensive will be the re-spray of parts if your replacement tailgate and bumper aren't Black.

Hondaj needs to find out whether his broken Jazz is a Mk2 or a Mk1. The easiest ways to tell are that the Mk2 has two creases in the bonnet and the Mk1 has only one, and the Mk2 has a much larger quarterlight.

I would have thought a 2009 car is more likely to be a Mk2 but from your data could be a Mk1.

Great. Thank you for the information on the history of my car :)

The parts should fit then. Yes this can be expensive and then it depends on the floor is folded - there will be some extra costs. The second hard breaking car I am buying for 100 pounds.

How much shall I spend on paint and labour to fit it?

The Mk1 and Mk2 tailgates are quite different. See pic attached. Are you sure you know your 2009 is a Mk1?

Looking again at Hondaj's photo I agree it looks like it is a Mk1...another giveaway there is no rear aerial which the Mk2's had.

mikebore, thank you very much.
Your picture ensured me that my Honda is a late model of MK1 and the tailgate should fit from that 2002 Jazz I am going to purchase tomorrow.

Thanks!

May I suggest fitting reversing sensors at the same time - the ones on ebay for about £10 work quite well

It's a facelift GD Jazz, so the title is misleading.

Some parts are a straight swap.

Some parts will fit, but be cosmetically incorrect.

Some parts won't swap at all.
