I use the music player on my Samsung Galaxy S2 which has a large amount of settable sound types and cannot really tell the difference between that and the cd player. I also use the phone as a nav system with map factor so I have the original Samsung holder which came with a charger. If I'm only using the charger then I just stow the cables and phone in the console in front of the gearstick.

Well exactly, 20 or so tracks on a CD doesn't quite provide enough variety. The rant against mp3 must be because of some previous perceived slight by the "...MP3 generation..." whoever they are? I don't do Apple period.

Well lucky you. I never did get into the 'phone craze so only have a very basic (non smart) phone.

To be honest I only got the phone because the mother-in-law was feeling generous a year or so ago! The nav system is "mapfactor" and is a free app. The maps are downloaded to the phone where you can choose each country individually. This way you can use the system offline so no expensive roaming costs. So far it's been very reliable and the maps are updated each month.

So who has fitted quieter tyres?

when I had a Jazz I fitted Michelin E/S to replace original noisy Bridgstones, and thought I had gone deaf, my wifes Jazz has Michelin E/S and so does my Civic now,  Replaced the original Bridgestones on the front with Michelin 22K ago and was a lot quieter,  and now replaced rears as well and it just whispers along now.  Did a test crash stop from 40  in Civic on waterlogged road this morning and stopped damn quick with ABS only cutting in once - plenty of grip, our hill was icy the other morning and did some power on and braking on ice tests and was surprised how much grip I had.

it is the use of silica in the rubber that gives outstanding results,  this has come over from motorbike tyres - where grip is everything, especially in the wet and cold.

Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

Thanks Culzean.  I think that will be the plan.  I normally use Michelin on my French stuff.
   Cheers for Goodyear link .

Our '56 came with Yokohamas when new and they were pretty good, quiet and rode well did 30k. Now she has Dunlop SP StreetResponse on and they are not bad either, cheapish too.
The Bridgestone A001 on my car are brilliant tyres but not quiet, but I don't think that Bridgestone as a make are quiet. I never hear the tyre noise anyway because of the wind noise - I must try silicone sealant around the front quarterlight trims.
