New remote control
« on: September 21, 2016, 08:32:04 AM »
I'm trying to get hold of a 2 button remote control unit.

I looked at my original and the frequency says 433.9mhz

When I try to find them online they are either saying 433mhz or 433.92mhz

I'm no good with this - are they the same?

Anyone know where I can get one from withough paying a hefty price?

Cheers

Hi Sam, Yes keys are a total rip off. They will all be in the same frequency range and have a xtal for a specific frequency. As well as the frequency they contain an e-eprom that is programmed with a code that works the remote functions in the car. Some makes of car keys also have another chip in them which the dash interrogates when it's in close proximity.

Unless anyone knows differently I think the main dealer is the only option or risk buying one off ebay that may or not work, but the e-eprom will still need programming to the same code as your existing key.  Perhaps else someone has found a workaround?

I wish you luck.

Mike.

433 = 433.9 = 433.92  (but not = 315 or = 868 mhz)
Pairing a remote from any Honda key or fob is easy:  switch on-blip-off x3 +1
Pairing an immobiliser ID46 chip requires Honda software.

My second remote is a Civic 3 button key with the blade removed on a ring with my non-remote original 2nd key.
Generic 433mhz fobs can't be used as remotes unless you wire in an aftermarket receiver as well.

I have the new chip programmed and is working great. Just need a second fob controller.
They keep saying variations of the frequency, so wasn't sure
