Interior plastics as bad as a Toyota's?

Just had a great week in the north of England but my four month old Jazz now looks about a year old.

Nearside door arm rest/electric window bit covered in scratches (fidgety passenger), glove box lid scratched (wife's handbag zip) and small dent on drivers door (somebody else's car door, car park in Penrith)

A bit narked about the dent as I look after my cars and always take care in car parks. The dent is on the door seam so not sure if it can be sorted, the flippen' door protectors didn't do their job!

Any advice on removing the internal scratches gratefully received.

On the plus side car was great. 950 miles, averaged about 51 to the gallon three up with loads of luggage. Motorway and peak district driving. Shame about the plastics....

The plastics on the driver's armrest on my year old GE courtesy car are covered in scratches, although it does belong to a bodyshop so the car is subject to abuse! The plastics on top of the dashboard housing the passenger airbag look and feel cheap, and indeed are scratched on this example. The rest of the interior plastics are OK, but I still think the previous GD model was better in this respect. General fit and finish though is excellent, only the VW Polo and Mazda2 can match it for sturdiness, and that is more important then touchy-feely plastics.

The dent maybe repairable. One was removed from my '06 Civic. No matter how careful you are you can never avoid them unless you never park next to anyone!

Most plastics come with a fine textured finish so sanding the plastic will also remove the textured finish. I find that a polish like "Mr Sheen" helps minimise the visibility of the scratches. I'm sure that theres Autoglym dashboard sprays that do the same job, but Mr S is always easily available under the kitchen sink.
