I don't see much improvement in using Google maps via AA vs the built in maps. I don't get traffic and automatic rerouting offered, that I got in the BMW.

The loss of traffic is annoying, but, the TMC RDS traffic was hopeless for up to date incidents, plus its coverage was poor.

Garmin PND's can link to a phone via Smartlink or Drive. This connection provides very accurate and up to date traffic. If only Honda/Garmin could get that working that would be the icing on the cake. The headunit can connect via Bluetooth so it must be possible.

In the meantime I'm using my trusty Garmin DS61, hardwired in with very little lead showing.
Let's be careful out there !

Hi

Thanks for all the replies, very informative and interesting.
For info the phone i have is a Nokia8, running on verion 9, which Android auto should be ok to run on.
The day after I made this thread, i recieved  a call from the Honda dealer I purchased the car from, they were asking if evrything was ok with the vehicle, I informed them of the trouble with Android Auto, so they asked to take it in so they could sort it out, they tried several times with my phone on 2 different leads, but could not get Android Auto to work on the Jazz, said my phone was incompatible or faulty.
Yesterday I found another USB lead at home for the Nokia, so before spending several hundreds on another phone I tried the new lead with the Nokia, and blow me the Phone connected with the Honda and was fully functioning with all features of the Android Auto, used it several today and worked with no faults.
So I would suggest trying  different leads to connect if you are similar difficulties, could save you a tidy sum

Some USB leads are only wired for charging, not data.

+1 to this.   Also, just in case it’s not obvious to everyone, there are two ports up front, one being charge only and one (with a USB squiggle symbol) is also data

Every day's a school day. Genuinely had no idea about this - really useful info.

Can you tell, just by looking at a USB lead, if it is wired for data?

I don't think so. If you buy a lead it's best to read the description to see if it mentions data:

'This 0.3m USB-C cable supports QC2.0/3.0 fast charging and data'
